I voted for Joe for reasons others have already explained in this thread.....losing to Vargas is like Joe losing to Lacy. I know that sounds like blasphemy on these boards because ppl love Fernando but he really at his best was only good and never could have been great just like Lacy.

Even though what I said is the truth I will wait for posters to flame away with their nostalgic unrealistic claims about how much better Vargas was than Lacy.

Powder Puff Kid's logic is that Joe never beat anyone elite and in their prime. Then he champions Winkys wins over Ike Quartey and Felix Trinidad......very strange.

Your rewarding Joe for having a less checkered career but the problem there is he has a less checkered career because he was not fighting elite fighters.

Imagine if Shane Mosley had not fought Wink,Forrest and stayed a LW beating the likes of Holiday, Leija etc, how highly would your rank him now? he would still be the same fighter capable of losing to Wink,Forrest but you would be overvaluing him because his career record would not be as checkered by losses. Basically Shane would not be any greater but you would perceive him greater because his record looks tidy with solid wins.

Mosley,Wink,DLH,Holyfield etc have losses because they had more questions asked of their credentials because they fought the elite, Joe did not have to answer those questions, thats why there are so many question marks about his career. We know how good these guys were because we saw the fight the very best.

The only difference between Hamed/Hatton/Calzaghe is that the aforementioned fought elite fighters when they were in their prime whilst Joe did not.

So you dont think Trinidad was elite ?

Quartey you could argue but you have to take into account that Quartey clearly should of got decisions over DLH & Vernon Forrest.

Its all about who the opponent has beaten or perceived to have beaten in Quartey's case. Dont poo poo that either because we all know Whitaker did not draw with Chavez but he still got mad props like he actually did win.
