And what had he proven at...middle?

Exactly. It was a real close fight - so it's a stretch to believe Winky would've beaten a prime Tito based on that. And honestly, I thought Winky lost the Vargas fight. Furthermore, Vargas was out of shape that fight which certainly doesn't help Winky's cause.

Hop is a top fighter, but once he moved to 175 he was not the fighter he was at middleweight imo.

It is really all about styles though. Im not sure Winky was as developed defensively as he was a bit later in his career. Winky matches up better with Tito than vargas imo.

Once Winky began walking his opponents down more he became much more effective. Winky spent a lot of time moving backward in the Vargas fight and allowing Vargas to come forward which plays into Vargas hands.

When did Hopkins stop being elite? At which point did you realize this?

He was a top fighter at welterweight who had just lost a close decision. It was a very good win for Tito that had alot of people thinking Tito was back, which is why he was so heavily favored over Winky.
Also, it wasnt just that Winky won, it was that he completly and totally dominated.
                Won every round...wasnt even close.

So his prime came to fruition when he changed his style?

                  Wow.

When his psychical restricted him from doing what he wanted in the ring. Do you seriously think an elite fighter stepped in the ring with Jermain Taylor & Joe Calzaghe ?Hopkins tires now due to age and his reflexes diminished a long time ago, he lives on his elite skills and timing these days.

If you think Hopkins could not set a pace you should watch his fights with Mercado 1+2, Johnson because that Hopkins aint fading the way the Hopkins who stepping in the ring with Calzaghe did.

Another thing if an elite Hopkins did step in the ring with Joe then you would agree that Joe beats him in his prime to?

I cant believe you think Tito that fought Wink was no longer elite but Hopkins is.
