What I know is that a Benn-Jones fight was planned post McClellan and it was scrapped because Don King was demanding options on Jones's next couple of fights. It was covered in a book called 'The Dark Trade', by Donald McRae.
What I read about Eubank's was that Jones offered him a fight and Eubank turned it down, after Eubank had lost back to back to Collins he came to Jones asking for a fight.

The only mention I have heard of HBO offering deals to Benn and Eubank, was in the interview with Jones before the Bryant Brannon fight. If that's the deal you are talking about?

HBO themselves said Roy Jones offered Steve Collins,Liles, Benn etc the fight and they turned it down, they (HBO)to did not believe he was willing to fight these guys so they asked him to prove it to them and Liles, Collins, Benn and a bunch of others turned the fight down, Liles was offered his biggest pay day by all accounts.

          • Eubank said in his book that Jones/Toney were never his mandatory's so he did not fight them, he said if they had been his mandatory he would of fought them.

Collins beat your best two eubank and benn and sadly after calling out jones was left to retire without his big money fight in the states. end of thread.

It's been mentioned in writing on the HBO website. But yes, you bring up other facts that could've saved this thread 15 pages.

There is NO fighter that hasn't avoided another--for whatever reason. Jones is no different. He wanted Woods instead of Jirov. Holyfield over Sanders. Turned down an offer to fight Terry Norris (though he was still very green at that point). But, in the end, you judge a fighter by who he did fight and when. And Jones' resume is arguably the best since Pernell Whitaker--with Manny Pacquiao being the only person I'd put over him in that time frame.
