Roy Jones Jr. The ducks he made at supermiddleweight.

Not to mention, Johnson was a champ like Jones was a champ. It was a unification bout and I think one of Jones' more underrated performances. He was in the zone that night. Once those legs went, so did he.Comment

WBO was a trinket belt back then. No one took it seriously that had any actual boxing knowledge. Sorry. Nice try.
Collins was not a very good fighter. You're better off making Nigel Benn arguments to be honest. Go that route.Comment

Reggie Johnson himself admitted that along with the Jones fight, the Tarver fight was the only other one he felt he clearly lost.
J.S: And then after losing to Jones you fought Antonio Tarver in an elimination bout. Was that split decision against you fair?
R.J: I felt Tarver won that fight fairly, yes. I didn't do enough in that fight.I have people today telling me I won that split decision lost to Antonio Tarver and I had him down and out in the 9th round but in my heart I knew I lost that fight and on January 25, 2002 the right man got the decision that night.Last edited by TheGreatA; 12-03-2009, 11:09 AM.Comment

Johnson may have been past it but he was coming off an extremely impressive, shocking and chilling KO of William Guthrie - the man many on message boards (like this one) had annointed as the person who would beat Roy. Guthrie was undefeated, trained by Roy Sr, was a tall, lanky southpaw with great pop in both hands and was being hyped by HBO as the man to challenge Jones. Johnson put his lights out with a beautiful, perfect right hook. He still had plenty...plenty left.
Like Jeff Lacy you dont get extra points for misplaced perception of a fighters credentials.
Fact is Reggie Johnson was past his best and fought like it against Jones.Comment
