Let me get this straight if you are the lineal champ. And, then the WBO, WBC, IBF, or WBA strips you cuz you don't want to fight there #1 contender. Are you not the lineal champ at all anymore even though you never lossed it. But, you don't have a major belt. Are you still the lineal champ?

Okay I hope I can shed some light on this....Floyd was the Lineal Champ, while Cotto was #1, Margarito #2, Williams #3, Mosley #4.......Mosley and Williams might have been the other way around, I can't remember.....so Floyd retired and NOW the title is vacant meaning a fight between #1 and #2 or #1 and #3 will crown a lineal/ring champion. So the Ring Magazine, jokers that they are decided they didn't know if Floyd would come back out of retirement or not, so they didn't put the vacant ring title on the line, but they should have because their rules state a fight between #1 and #2 or #1 and #3 crowns a champ....anyway, Margarito won....Williams left welterweight so now the rankings are like this....#1 Margarito, #2 Cotto and #3 Mosley.....Mosley and Margarito sign to fight and they ring decided AGAIN not to put the title on the line...BIG mistake. They said their reason was because again..."we're not sure if Floyd is retired or not and Williams might come back to the division"....which is ******, because Williams asked to be ranked as a light middleweight and Floyd officially announced his retirement so AGAIN the title should have been on the line! But it wasn't....so Mosley isn't lineal champ, but in many peoples eyes he is, because if the Ring put the title on the line in either of the two fights...the end result would be Mosley as Ring/Lineal Champ.

But Williams beat Marg how can you put the lineal title on the line or rank Marg 2 after he had just lost to Williams

just because people say you are "the man" at a particular weight does not mean you have the lineal title. Sure people said Cotto was the best at that weight, but he didnt have the title. Also, PWill beat Marg, Marg beat Cotto and then Marg is the man? How does that work?

I never said that Cotto had a lineal claim, only that he was recognized as the best welterweight in the world after Floyd retired, my man. As for the second part of your post.......**** gets confusing. PWill lost to Quintana, who Cotto beat, who was than beat by Margarito. Lol, I'm not sure how it works. I am sure that unification would go a long way in solving it though. Agree?

No thats not accurate, Pac won seven titles because of his WBC international title and his IBO belt at 140.
