marg and cotto last year was the #1 and #2 147 fighters when they fought (if you don't consider paul williams as a 147 fighter)

since marg won , it's arguable he was the man at 147 (since paul moved up) and since mosley beat him , mosley should be the man.

but now it's murky because 1. floyd came back and 2. pacquiao just beat the guy who beat mosley.

That is all valid. It is tough to tell and I believe there should be a tournment system in place to determine lineal champions.

For who? Pac aint fighting Mosley so its not up for grabs. If they decided to put it on the line with Pac/Floyd which I bet they probably will then yeah.

Lineal titles are reality and not always based on the passing of alphabet titles. If you dont understand the concept its really not worth discussing it with you.

But Williams had just beat Marg. And since Marg beat Cotto, doesnt that mean people should have considered Williams number one?

A tournament should be the only way to do it, a la Cotto beats Shane, Willaims beats Marg and Cotto fights Williams to determine lineal champ.
You cant just put to fighters in the ring and say, the winner of this fight is lineal champion! if those fighters have recently been beaten.

The title is passed through defeating the previous lineal champion. Simple as it gets, which is why you claiming Mosley is lineal leads me to believe you are having a tough time with a simple concept.
