If I was a cop and I stopped a car late at night driving recklessly with 4 white guys and a gun visible I'd do exactly the same and I expect any black cop would too

After WW2 Black GI's were not given the G.I. Bill like White GI's were. Blacks were excluded from Government home ownership programs , in some places Unions excluded them, and many if not all of the Government programs that created the Middle Class in America were reserved exclusively for Whites , in addition , Blacks were prevented from buying homes in the nicer areas by redlining and Restrictive Covenants. Also "Separate but Equal " schools and the way that public education is funded in the U. S. led to millions of undereducated black people , generations of them , what does that getbyou , poverty , crime , etc. These things gave white people a hand up while keeping black people behind. For some reason , you can guess why , none of this is taught in U.S. schools. That enables white people to deny systemic racism and to believe that they must just be better than black people , harder working , smarter , more moral , etc . They don't know how life has been rigged in their favor . I'm not even going back to Reconstruction , which was a terrible time to be black , not just in the South but primarily there. Do't even get me started on how the Justice System has been used to disenfranchise black men and strip them of the vote among other things like educational benefits , good jobs , etc . There are plenty of books that are all about that use of the Government against blacks . People that don't know this stuff just think that blacks must be inferior to explain their position in American society . They don't know or don't want to admit that it was done on purpose and benefited them and people just like them. Of course I am not talking about all people in any group. All of this is a very large part of why white people tend to be better off than blacks , they had a 500 year head start. They have families with something to leave in inheritance , connections in business and society , etc , etc .
There's a really good book " When Welfare Was White " that's a real eye opener . Not being black or white , I used to wonder why black people were so much worse off in the U.S than white people. This book and a few others explained a lot. "Slavery By Another Name " by Douglass Blackmon is another good book.

All that said . Most of us are still striving to have the U.S. live up to its promise , to live up to the Constitution where it states that All Men Are Created Equal and deserve the same rights. That's something that I believe in totally. That's why I joined the Army and why I stand against bullies and with the marginalized. That matters to me.

I drive around with a loaded gun on the seat , one in a holster , and another in a compartment. I have been stopped with guns on me and in the car , also while carrying on a motorcycle and the cops never pulled a gun on me . Does that make me a thug , or just a citizen of a state where it's legal ?
I don't know the guy personally but I would bet that Terrence Crawford is not now and probably never has been a thug. He seems like a good family man and dedicated professional athlete. " Thug" is the new N word. Used and approved by Right Wing media.

This is wild for me as I live in the UK where guns are fully illegal, hard to come by and can only be acquired for a couple of thousand minimum if you know someone of real bad character who's supplying them. why would you need a loaded gun on the seat lol?

As a long time history teacher, I gotta disagree with that part there. I learned it when I was in school and have it taught too, for many years.

From what I can tell, and maybe I read this wrong, after the officer had approached the vehicle and was talking with them, he noticed a gun on the floorboard of the car- that seems to be the impetus for him pulling out his weapon. I don't know if they (Bud and his passengers) told the officer before hand, I don't know if Nebraska has a duty to inform law, but this seems to be the provided justification. Gotta wait and see as more info comes out.
