From reading some of these comments, you can tell that for some, that when it comes to how the world view Blacks, that certain prejudices still exist - and most likely forever will.

To anyone who is Black or is not Black and has humility for the Black experience, I applaud you.

To those who continue to see Blacks through racist, vilifying and condescending eyes, I pray for you.

And to those who can identify with the Black experience, police will pull Blacks over on a bogus infraction - such as driving erratically.....with the hopes of finding a real violation - that's a profiling tactic.

Correction to someone who commented that Bud and his team had guns drawn on them because a gun was visible on the DASHBOARD. A gun was seen after looking inside the vehicle on the FLOORBOARD. The gun was legally registered and it belonged to one of Bud's security guards. It is logical that Security would be carrying.

The police said they drew their guns after seeing a gun. That's what the police said.

It's one side's word VS another.

An investigation regarding this event is ongoing.

You’re doing it again. I didn’t say anything like that.

No dui/dwi ticket issued so he clearly wasn’t impaired. No speeding ticket either. So I am confused by what erratically means in this case?

Kindly address my point- that in a constitutional carry state the cop deals with stops with firearms regularly. Guns are allowed by law. The cop knows this. So what caused his reaction because it wasn’t the gun?

Fine. I’m the meantime can we discuss the cops actions visa vie living in a state where open carrry is allowed?

Thank god, it was just a ticket right? I mean, I wouldn't want to see the community burned down. Hopefully TBud learned his lesson from this.

According to Mega, TBud was running redlights and stop signs.

Ok that would justify a stop.

Surprised police didn’t put this in the press release or the Chief and Mayor didn’t announce it.

Clears up any confusion and takes away any need for an investigation or review of the stop imo.

why has the security guy got his gun on the car floor? surely a holster on his body is the way to go with this?

The cops said a gun was on the floorboard. This may or may not be true. Do you believe everything the police tell you? Do you believe everything the police tell you when the alleged perpetrators are Black (or Brown)?
Who knows why a gun was on the floorboard. Who knows if that's where the gun was. Security stated that they informed the cops that they had a gun. However, security stated they feared for their lives. I don't know about you, but if I felt that my life was in danger from an alleged routine traffic violation, I'd have a gun in close reach.

It can't always be trusted that cops will do the right thing during a routine traffic stop.

im not sure about that one, if i was in that situation i would try to go with flow as much as possible, maybe point out a few things if needed, bud is a cool calm customer i doubt he would aggravate things & would ask what the stop was for, if he was at fault for something then he would have to suck it up and accept the ticket, if not then go with whatever procedure is there to fight it i guess, if its a made up charge and lies by a bad cop the cop should be the one whos in big big trouble here

The article said Crawford was ticketed for reckless driving. It also said that while the cops were talking to him, they noticed a gun on the car's floor, so they ordered everyone out at gunpoint. Some of you guys are quick to call that racial profiling. It sounds to me like the cops were doing their job. If Crawford hadn't been driving recklessly, he likely wouldn't have been ticketed for it, and if the cops hadn't spotted a gun on the floor of the car, they likely wouldn't have ordered everyone out at gunpoint.

I'm thinking a right to carry state has clear guidelines as to where and how a firearm may be carried. Just having your piece laying on the floor of your car doesn't sound reasonable to me.
