When Floyd was pretty boy Floyd that resume alone defines his legacy for money Mayweather everything was rigged from weight clauses to waiting until offensive style fighters age lose a step before fighting

Besides, if we are going with the "if they had an openweight tournament" argument, you might as well go one step further and make it open rules too, in which case Usyk is getting his **** pushed in by random none top 10 MMA fighters and kickboxers. So the whole king of the mountain thing doesnt mean much.
P4P exists to level the playing field. Most professional sports don't do that - with the exception of creating categories for gender. They simply acknowledge the best.

It certainly doesn't exist for Usyk's benefit. He doesn't need any leveling of the playing field. He is simply the best boxer in the world. He could possibly have drained himself and dropped down a division or two in his early career if he wanted to be a P4P legend sweeping up a few more weight classes... but why would he do that when his aim was to be the best?

I respect the achievements of the guys in the lower weight divisions, but moving up divisions is not the sole mark of success within the sport.

When comparing achievements, I don't think you can disregard the fact that one of them is actually the best in the world.

Would you agree that the level of competition is usually significantly higher in the lower weight classes though? i'd say most of the talent in boxing is concentrated between 135-160. That means the average level of skill and athleticism of the guys you face is going to be higher, which means its more difficult to succeed there than somewhere like HW, hence why p4p exists.

I get where you're coming from regarding Usyk in absolute terms being the best boxer, as in he would beat everyone else due to being the best big man, but I dont think that holds as much weight in boxing as it would in something like MMA which is more geared towards that kind of concept.

yes, usyk is literally unbeatabke. Floyd was only unbeatable with gift decisions fighting in backyard, and only if he didn't fight ggg at 160, or Nelo without a cw, whilst green without rematches, etc etc You suggest floyd give rematch, you were greeted with either sarcasm, or excuses.?
I don't see a way floyd can be as great as usyk. Usyk literally done everything. Floyd never did anything you wanted him, whether it fight outside backyard, give rematch, or fight toughest available

The athleticism and speed is obviously greater in the lower classes. Often it's better to watch (personally I think it peaks around super middleweight).

But the depth of competition argument just speaks to there being more people in that category. The average man is about 5'8... which is roughly Floyd's category. Combat sports recognise that and we're obviously glad that they do, whereas other sports simply acknowledge exceptionalism. Floyd was great in a big pool, but only in his pool, not in total terms.

No-one argues that Usain Bolt was only good because he was 6'5. There would have been better height-for-height or P4P sprinters... but it doesn't make them better.

When talking about the greatest, the absolute greatest... you don't bring Mayweather into that conversation.

Yeah all of us except you know why- his resume doesn’t elevate him above Ali or Floyd. Nothing controversial about that as Ali is one of the top 2 ATG boxers and Floyd is somewhere between 10-20.

Only agenda driven racists like you thinks it’s because Usyk is a white Eastern European and Ali and Floyd are black and from America.

My guess is if a Manny fan like you claimed Usyk wasn’t better than Manny, you wouldn’t say it’s because they are Asian or Filipino. Same if a Mexican fan said Chavez or Sanchez was better. Or if they said Duran is better.

You only hold black posters opinions to the race standard.

Stop letting your hatred of black people drive how you see things. It’s unhealthy.

Why did you delete the post after Floyd beat all the boxers you stated he needed to beat to be an ATG?

Why not just be a man and admit you were wrong that he couldn’t beat all of them?

Nobody knows what on earth you are on about. Whatever your on about I'm sure it took floyd 10 years to best hatton, cotto, dlh and SSM. And by the time floyd fought and best them, there were new kids on the block, from thurman, spence, bud and brook and bradley. Please forgive me if I've missed anyone, it's been a long day and I'm a little tired

Usyk winning the poll quite easily speaks for itself. Speaks for all the shortcomings Floyd critics had.

Status isn't determined on boxrec boxrecboy, it's determined by beating the best at their best.
