He ranks nowhere, because he is not an all-time great middleweight. Nor has he ever been an all-time great middleweight.

All-time great middleweights don’t duck good opposition; Let alone and least of all their mandatory challengers for more than two years.

All-time greats give fans the fights that they demand and are willing to pay to see. However, Canelo does not do that.
He often plays it safe by cherry-picking and not taking any risks outside of the ring.

The all-time greats fought and defeated the very best fighters and competition of their generations, time and era. Unfortunately, Canelo just does not do that nor does he meet that criteria.

I'd like to see how Canelo would have done against some of these guys, but you know he's done enough for boxing and wouldn't fight any of them. His fans would back him up. You know James Toney would have disrespected him and hurt his dainty feelings

Yes, Toney had an off night. The best version of James Toney hurts the best version of Canelo badly.

Benevidez does not belong. And the order from 5-9 can be debated. But the top of the list is right on in my opinion.

Question is would he have beaten the greats who fought at that weight like Benn, Jones Jr., McClellan, Toney, Hopkins, Hearns, Calzaghe, Froch, Ward, Kessler, even Ottke. Even at middleweight, imagine Canelo against Hagler, Mugabi, Duran, Jackson….

Can't come in here and complain about Canelo then bring up Sven Ottke. That dude had more home cooking than anyone....maybe ever.

Canelo belongs in the top 10 but Benavidez does not belong on that list. Top 4 are on the money, we can argue about the order, but if they all fought each other at their peak, Roy Jones comes out on top. In terms of the rest, Ottke who retired undefeated 34-0 and was a champion for 16 years is not on the list, but Chong-Pal Park is on the list???
