He’s not even arguing about how he’s the best fighter Canelo can fight because he’s the toughest and he’s going to be the one to beat Canelo. He’s not even arguing that. He’s just arguing how famous he thinks he is.

This is one of the worst fighters Canelo can choose to fight at this point of their careers.
I would've loved to have seen him fight Plant, Munguia, Jacobs, or Dirrell, beating them would've given him some credibility because they were all former champions.
So I agree with your statement 100%, talking about his fame, following, ethnicity, and the money shows that he's not even concentrating on beating Canelo, but on the event itself.
Berlanga needed 3-4 more fights against the opposition stated above, before getting a fight of this magnitude, but this didn't happen, and the fans are up in arms.

Man , Edgar gets the best drugs.....
Well... He's right about the different ethnic backgrounds He's just kind of omitting a key fact here... In this case the Mexican is a big fat baseball bat, and Edgar is a Puerto Rican pinata!

I can hear it now... " Oh! Edgar takes a hard left, is that a now and later that just flew out of his mouth? Or Reese's?"

They only use that weak argument when it concerns an opponent that they actually consider a threat to Canelo. For someone like Berlanga, they’ll find some ridiculous logic to make him seem deserving because all they really care about is that Canelo is safe from a potential ass whooping.

I think they want to showcase Canelo and have a spectacular KO. Berlanga has fallen way down with the expectations that they had on him, got released and Hearn has been trying to sell him to Canelo. Berlanga has not improved and has not shown that his power will finish better fighters.
Nobody is interested in this fight for except Berlanga, Eddie and Canelo. I doubt they can sell this like PR vs Mexico successfully.

I think he just believes his own hype.
To the extent it feeds his self-confidence, sure, Edgar, knock yourself out.
But reality in the form of Canelo's fists will probably knock him out for realz.

Eddie Hearn outta his gotdammmmm mind if he thinks people about to pay for this easy ass KO! Berlanga is one of the least skilled fighters at 168 and has a suspect chin, GTFOH
