Wasn't a close fight at all IMO. Don't know why people think that a pawing jab from Fury outweighs several power punches from his opponents, but that should have been an easy fight to score. 1-3 to Usyk, 4-6 to Fury, 7 was close but Usyk slightly edged it, and the remaining rounds to Usyk, including a 10-8 in the 9th, which could have had more KDs called or a TKO stoppage. I would love to hear from the judge that thought Fury won, because his cards didn't resemble the fight at all. Being as generous as possible to Fury and giving him the two rounds that were at all close still leaves Usyk with the win.

Saw it precisely the same way, because this was a pretty easy fight to score.

Usyk did what he had to. He started fast, survived the adjustments made by Fury in those middle rounds (honestly, even as an Usyk fan I do not think Fury is getting credit for his in fight IQ), and worked to the inside to hurt and outwork Fury.

2 things can be true at the same time:

1) It was a close fight.
2) Usyk did win by any real evaluation.

In the Joshua rematch, I was actually irritated a judge scored that fight for Joshua. Usyk clearly won and was denied the UD he deserved. I am kind of happy this one was a split decision. Fury lost, but fought more than well enough to defend a split decision. Besides, Usyk knows what is coming in the rematch so he has to take it even more seriously this time around as he can clearly see where he was dominated. That makes for a better match for all of us.

If you look at the Compubox stats (which I know aren't perfect), Usyk only outlanded Fury by 13 punches over 12 rounds, that's an average of 1 punch per round.

This idea that Usyk dominated the fight is ridiculous.

Fury won most of the early & mid rounds to me, with his uppercuts staggering Usyk, when he came in, but Usyk closed the last 4 or 5 strong.

It was an extremely close fight that I had Fury winning by one round, but having a draw or Usyk winning by a round or 2 wasn't out of the way, either.

A dominant 9th round was pretty much what the fight will be remembered as.

Fury was lost at sea after that and if he'd tried to press the action too much in the championship rounds would have opened himself up to getting starched good and proper.

I doubt he can actually remember much in real time during the fight and if he rewatched but edited out the 9th round then sure. He'd think he won.

For training purposes they should probably just show the 9th round on loop while he's in the gym.

Nah...not buying the lack of focus eh.

Fury's tactics were totally to showboat and clown hoping to put Usyk off. It didn't work and there was no plan B.

It's in his nature to be a goofy giant just like it is in Usyks to be a steely eyed warrior.

Fury didn't just get caught in the 9th. He got caught by good left hands in nearly every round.

You don't score fights by averaging total punches landed over total rounds. If you did, and you took a point away from Fury for the KD, that would make Usyk the winner. I don't understand why you are using Compubox numbers to back up your opinion that Fury won when the numbers actually show Usyk winning clearly.

If you use the Compubox numbers correctly they show Usyk outlanding Fury in 7 out of 12 rounds, which translates to Usyk winning the fight by 3 points. The numbers are only part of the picture though. The reality is that Usyk landed many more hard, clean punches than Fury and he hurt Fury more than Fury hurt him.
