Who should Morrell fight if not Benavidez or Canelo right now?

Morrell ducked VADA testing and chose to fight in a state that does not require it, plus has been seen with severe acne in the past. Looks doggy to me. Talk to me when he fights someone decent in Vegas.

I have my opinion.
You have your opinion and I have mine and Aditos didn't have the experience nor talent Uzcategui and Dirrel had yes even past their primes they would still pose more obstacles than the guy who wasn't ever at that level....clearly.

All you have to know is the other two are former champions while the one guy never even got close to that level.

      Nuff said.

I've heard that both sides are currently in talks for negotiating a bout to take place over the Cinco De Mayo weekend

Thing is, Mbilli got his WBA ranking in 2022. Morrell has been WBA regular since the beginning of 2021. WBA rules specifically state that the highest ranked or a regional champ in the top 5 gets the mandatory spot. Mbilli would have gotten offered the fight on multiple occasions by now, since Morrell has been on the hook for the WBA mandatory for nearly 3 years now. If they haven't fought, it's because Mbilli already has turned the fight down. Instead, he went and got a WBC regional ranking, and is top in the IBF as well. If he fights Morrell, he'll lose his rankings in the other organizations. He's looking to wait for a vacant title against someone not dangerous, rather than fighting either David. He's had a shot at either of them for more than a year just by filing for a mandatory shot. He hasn't done so.

You guys are acting like Morrell's not the longest outstanding mandatory in the division. Facts are that the WBA is the one overdue for a mandatory defense.

Erik would get blasted out of there in two rounds
Mbilil would be a test , decent fighter with decent power and can take a shot
Not saying he would win but it would be a good scrap for both to determine where they stand in the division

Former champions nowadays is not like it used to be. Four belts, almost every other former champion won the belt from another guy, not the real champ, in a vacant contest and they lose the belt in the very next fight. Just like all those Brits canelo won the belts from. You see you believe in those "champs", I respect your opinion but I don't believe in those types of champs until they defend their belt a few times, by the way, did you know uzcategui lost shiskin? And of course, you know dirrel got KO by plant. As I said before they're becoming gatekeepers because they weren't good enough to hold those belts, mbilli, shiskin or munguia should offer better opposition. Aidos never got close because he went after the wrong guy, and let's ask ourselves, who did dirrel/uzcategui duo do to get to that level? Then again, that's my take.

Morrell needs to enhance his resume more so he's the #1 indisputable guy who deserves to fight the winner of Alvarez vs Benavidez in late 2024 or early 2025.
Benavidez got in front of the 168 queue because 168 is shallow. When you start rattling off David's best opponents, you'd wind up including the likes of Andrade and Lemieux. People should not be calling for Morrell to face Anthony fxxking Dirrell in 2024 if he wants to make a statement. Morrell would make Dirrell look like a stay-busy opponent.

Who's saying that? The only thing I've seen is Munguia, Bud & Mall are the short list for May. Seeing ppl suggest David B is in play for Sept tho. Personally I'd rather see David B sooner. Bud still gots the Errol fight thats now not likely to happen til Mar at the earliest with the Amazon deal. Mall needs mental help more than a big fight. And Munguia might not even beat Ryder in a few wks so I could see David B slip in, but last I heard he wasn't even on the short list for May.
