The last real genuine skill for skill pound for pound fighter was 'Floyd Mayweather Junior'.
He was the last fighter who? You could clear see was pound for pound theoretically the best fighter in the game.
Both Floyd Mayweather Junior & Manny Pacquiao are the last real great pound for pound fighters.
Since then? I think it has not been very clear who the best fighters are, in terms of from a observation perspective 'Or even from feats of achievement'.
Note: Lets say everybody had to create a case, to prove who the best pound for pound fighter in the world was 'Oleksandr Uysk's feats of achievements within the Heavyweight Division, from a pure physiological perspective i.e Having to negate fighters out weighing him by 20- 35+ pounds thus-far in his campaign. You would have to rate his wins at Heavyweight as pound for pound great performances'.
When Usyk fought Anthony Joshua, he was fighting a very capable elite level Heavyweight who was out weighing him by 20 pounds.
I don't think Haney has displayed the physiological feats of achievement, or displayed the highest levels of overall game 'In order to quite compete with fighters such as Terrence Crawford'.
We have only really seen Haney win fights, with his primary default tactics 'Haney's entire game has not been tested like Floyd Mayweather Junior's was'.
Haney is clearly a top fighter, but I don't think he has been as thoroughly tested as Terrence Crawford, Vasily Lomachenko, Canelo Alvarez, Oleksandr Usyk etc.
The thing with Usyk's wins over AJ is that AJ was not considered the best in the division at the time. He simply collected belts from the likes of Martin and Parker, lost them once and got them back with his rematch clause and lost them again to the first decent fighter he faced.
Usyk's best achievement is really his cruiserweight run. His heavyweight run isn't much to brag about yet. He beat Chisora, a guy with a dozen losses and it was 115-113, Usyk's own team had it a draw. He beat Witherspoon. He beat Dubois in a fight he arguably should've been stopped in from a shot on the belt line. The AJ wins are fine but he's never been right since Ruiz folded him.
I have no problem putting Usyk in p4p rankings because he cleaned out cruiserweight actually beating the main men, but that was 4-5 years ago. I don't think his heavyweight run has been great as of yet, scraping past a shot Chisora by 1 round, arguably being knocked out by Dubois and beating a mentally shot AJ.
His cruiserweight resume and performances far exceed his heavyweight ones.
If we're talking about p4p fighters in more recent times that have got there by beating the best fighter available in the division and picking up all the belts, you're really basically looking at Crawford and Inoue. And i think they're the 2 best in the sport, even in terms of skill, so I think it's not a coincidence they're the top 2.
if you wanna say Floyd was a clear p4p in terms of both skill and his accolades, and I agree, I think you can also say Inoue and Crawford fit this criteria. I'd also say Usyk at cruiserweight undisputed fit the criteria, but that was half a decade ago. I don't think he fits the bill today because he needs to beat the best heavyweight, which he hasn't. Some of his performances like vs Chisora barely separated himself from a fringe Contender like Del. It's hardly the same as Inoue smashing Fulton is it?
I think I was talking about there being no P4P list.. you know? The list the article is talking about? Lol..
If you go to The Ring Magazine, they have rankings for each division from Strawweight to Heavyweight. They also have rankings that's labelled "All Weights" which is a ranking of the fighters regardless of the division they compete in...... Is that not a 'Pound For Pound' ranking? Or do you actually need them to say P4P Ranking above the list?
P.S. To tell you the truth, I didn't read the article, I'm just responding to comments on this forum.
No disrespect to Bill Haney but if Spence came into that bout depleted then it’s nobody’s fault but his own.
Given his inactivity, not fighting tuneups and fighting only three times in the past four years; While partying and living a very fast lifestyle.
All played roles in his body shutting down and becoming depleted. Chances are he probably didn’t even train much for that fight.
It’s more likely than not that he spent most of his time in training camp cutting weight. Which is a shame.
He has the biggest Goddamn fight of his career and yet he still comes into that bout both unprepared, unfocused and undisciplined.
He underestimated Crawford and took him lightly because of his lack of size and as result of it; He paid dearly for it.
You are right on your response to him, I agree with everything you stated, but Spence was NOT depleted. Fans got to stop promoting excuses for these fighters, especially those who don't throw out an excuse for themself.
You’re correct, but that’s his point. Haney’s top wins weren’t depleted; in fact, he apparently was depleted himself and still racked up top quality wins.
Haney wasn't depleted. His quality wins came from his preparation for his opponent in front of him. It may have been tougher for him to make a specific weight, but if he's competing at a high level, clearly he's not depleted. Let's not turn that term into the cliche of choice to start excuses for individuals when they come up short and/or have a lack luster performance.

I agree. Sometimes a fighter's bad habits can be their own worst enemy. That's how Errol always prepares for his fights; Overconfident and ballooning up close to 200 lbs.
In addition, coming to training camp just to cut weight by relying solely on his physical ability to overwhelm and overpower his opponents.
However, this time it backfired.
Crawford was well-prepared for what Spence was going to do in advance. I know that part of him underestimated Crawford.
Where you at Bill ?
All week you’ve been driving chit down our throats and now crickets
I guess it’ll take another 25 pounds I mean days before you start feeding us again
