Common sense dictates that beating the best welter in the world and than fighting Pac (should he get by Cotto) makes the fight that much bigger.

In another point of view Cotto beat Shane...so if Pac beats Cotto he could claim he's the best at 147...

Although Shane would be #1 cuz he beat Margarito who beat Cotto...

You can't be serious? Mayweather PAC will be large as possible without him fighting SSM. If you said harcore fans would like to see him fight Mosley first then I could understand. Who in their right mind is going to say well I don't want to see that fight because he didn't fight SSM? I used PAC because that was your example but I don't see him beating Cotto.

It seems that many don't realize this. I would say Roach doesn't realize that either but Roach may realize that Floyd is a draw because people want to see him lose but will use the fans that boo him as sign that they are not there for him...for negotiation purposes. But nobody can deny the facts and that is the PPV numbers and seats that are filled when he fights. Even if you look at the opponents, like JMM, when has JMM done the numbers that Floyd has done?

            Which fight sells more tickets:

Floyd vs. Pac or Pac vs. Shane?

Floyd's numbers (so far) prove he is the better draw. Hatton, Goldy, and now JMM (but I'll wait until I see the PPV numbers in ink). We'll see what Pac does with Cotto. If he can generate big numbers and it shouldn't be any tougher than Floyd vs. JMM because Pac is fighting a Puerto-Rican/Cotto...than he has more of an arguement.

And Paul Williams beat Margarito and everybody at 147 avoids Williams = Williams is #1

They might just want a close deal to be done. Mayweather might come in throwing obscene numbers out there and Roach/Arum isn't going to allow that.

In the end, they both will have to decide what fight makes sense based on the end number$.

If you can get a 40% cut or 45% cut that will make you 30 million in one fight vs. fighting someone else where your cut is 65+% that will make you a lot le$$ because of your opponent......someone might cave to the offer of the lesser percentage which holds the greater amount of money in the one fight.

That could be argued, yes. Im more of a here and now type of fan though. Im a much bigger fan of Cotto than Shane, but their fight was close. Cotto went on to lose to Margs and Shane beat Marg. In my mind that makes Shane number one. I know this may not be how everyone looks at it, but its how I see it.. Shane may have lost to the man, but he beat the man who beat the man. DAMN this **** gets confusing!

now that i agree with,as much as i am a pbf fan, everyone has side stepped willams and forced him to move up,i would still like to see pbf fight willams at light midd only after hes beat mosley and the winner of pac vs cotto
