If Ray fights that aggressive style he did against Floyd's dad he'd get picked apart. With the exception of the quick flurry to end the round 9 whenever he had Floyd sr on the ropes Ray's speed looked good, but i wouldn't call it great. Floyd jr would see those shots coming from a mile away.

What ppl also forget is Floyd actually has more ring experience because he fought straight to 30 years old with no layoffs. Ray when he retired in 1982 still has a lot of room to improve.

SRL by decision. Just as fast, bigger, throws better combinations. Noone is knocking Floyd out but SRL would outpoint him, PERIOD.

It would interesting how Ray would react or fight if Floyd starts changing up his approach and actually making Ray go backwards. Floyd in the Judah and Marques fight was very successsful with that style yet still able to defend by blocking and getting away from there punches. Neither are Ray Leonard but Ray did struggle with Duran 1st fight. Im not so sure Ray would be stronger. Floyd is shorter and weighs the same and is actually more built right now than 1980 and 1981 SRL. Especially in the legs.

A weakness i always noticed about even prime Ray but he got away with it because he didnt fight many fighters who were quick who used upercuts and hooks in there arsenal is Ray had a habit of bending down when throwing his jab to the body and bending down period at times.

Floyd's lunging upercuts which are extremely quick and hooks would land at will on SRL. Watching the Benitez fight he's wide open for that shot and the straight right hand. But it has to be a straight right. Not jab then right how Hearns does it because Ray sees that coming.

Floyd would fent Ray...BOOM straight right hand. Fent and have Ray worrying about the straight right and BOOM lunging upercut when Ray starts to bend down like he did at times. Its there all day long

Has at least equal but probably better stamina than Floyd 3. punches harder than Floyd.
What does being active have to do with it? Mayweather conserves his punches.....how will Sugar Ray break through Mayweathers defense and how willhe defend against Mayweathers counters and foot movement?

Leonard is definitely stronger than Mayweather. If Mayweather tried to be aggressive, Leonard would find it much easier to land on him and would likely stop Floyd. Watch the Judah, Corley fight for example, Mayweather took a lot of clean punches early on.

If Mayweather tried to throw lunging uppercuts, he would be stopped.

He has to box very defensively and make a low contact type of bout out of it to stand a chance against Leonard.

The times SRL has been stunned or hurt in his career have been from upercuts. Duran, Norris, Hagler, Benitez, Kalule caught him with a few but it didn't have that snap of how Floyd would throw it. Leonard bends down which was a habit to throw the jab to the body or when he was in a defensive stance. A fighter with great speed that shot is open.

Ray has never fought a fighter with great speed who is also smart and skilled. Hearns had great gifts but not exactly the smartest fighters.

Also Ray never fought a guy who was athletic with speed but also unorthodox throwing shots from weird angles. Ray was used to the basic jab 1st and follow it up. That's how Hearns fought him and Ray figured it out.

Floyd and prime Roy Jones keep there opponents off balance cause there not by the book. They will fent, fent and make you think a shot is coming from 1 way and BOOMB straight right WITHOUT JABING. Or as i said in my previous post fent, fent, quick upercut but with speed. And its very difficult to time them because there so quick.

If Floyd lands that upercut SOLID he will stun Ray.

Did you even see Floyds father even say, floyd at Welter would not be able to Leonard.

You keep on with this ****** ass stuff, get on here like you know boxing but you dont.

Perfect basic example you keep on saying who Ray has not faced, a fighter with the speed of floyd. Hmmm Who has floyd faced like leoanrd. Who has floyd faced that can box like ray, punch like ray, put combinations together like ray, jab and has a right hand (dlh had simply a jab) like ray, be as in shape as Ray, etc.

How about instead of simply saying who ray has not faced, tell us who Floyd has not face, and quit sounding ******.

I will look for that interview with Floyd senior when he said his son would not be able to beat Ray at Welter, just a case of great bigger man, vs great smaller man.

Only think that Floyd has over ray is defense. That is it. Then this notion of Floyd backing up ray is the dumbest **** I have ever heard. Did floyd back up 36 year of DlH the 1st 7 rounds when he had stamina. IN fact did floyd even fight back. No he fought like a little *****... Then you try to compare him backing up Judah who was backed up by spinks, baldomir etcc..etc..etc.. vs Leonard who at Welter was only backed up by Duran. Even Tommy could not back him up, Tommy probably the most prolific punching destructive machine at welter ever, and he could not hurt or back up ray, and your gonna suggest Floyd mayweather who could not even hurt a career 128 fighter (do not even try to compare him to Duran who had 8 fights at welter before he faced ray, and unlike JMM, Duran went on UP to win titles at weight classes north of Welter, JMM had to immediately go back down).

This is one of the dumbest conversations ever on Boxingscene. Again tell us who at Welter weight has Floyd faced that is even remotly great, and peak. I am not talking pound per pound, I am talking at 147, who has floyd beat that is worthy of carrying Ray's jock strap?

Let me help you here are his top fights

DLH ,,36 years old .Mayweather barely won a split decision and dlh was shot.
                  Judah...who has not beaten Judah
Hatton, ko;d by a feather weight who moved up, and Hatton fought mayweather at 147 where he simply was garbage and was almost beaten and stopped by Callozo
                  Baldomir...what a joke,
Jmm. a career 128 pounder who only had 2 fights at 135 bnefore he had to move up 2 weight classes to face mayweather.

Hmmm great group of fighters that really shows us how great Mayweather is at welter. What a joke. There is no doubt Mayweather is a great fighter, but idiot..Look at his opposition he has faced at welter. I wonder why he has chosen to AVOID, Williams, Margerito (who practically punked him face to face), Mosley, Cotto, Clottery, ...Any fighter at welter who has a legit chance he has avoided, but he faced smaller fighters or those that simply are not peak or great.

WPink...I get it, I do, but it's a waste of time. This ****ing idiot is going to keep posting nonsense on this thread until the end of time, so long as he has someone to reply to him. I'd gotten so frustrated with his sheer ******ity earlier, and had he been someone I knew and could find, I'd have gone and slapped the dog-**** out of him, in hopes it would jump start his brain. Best thing to do is ignore him, because if you keep reading his ****, it'll drive you nuts.

No he doesn't.Leonard was as well rounded and versatile as any boxer has been over the past thirty years,Leonard never attempted to box Mayweather Sr,he took the fight right to him and battered him,he never really had to use his jab at any point in the fight and went straight at him and battered him on the ropes.

If Mayweather tried counter punching Leonard then he would be met with a counter of his own.

If you've watched enough of Leonard then you would know he could fight at calm, tactical pace and could do so brilliantly, simply working behind his jab and looking for sport to pick on.

Leonard's style is all wrong for counter punchers.
