I think that he's going to fight Janibek before he moves up. Alimkhanuly started calling him out as soon as he got Andrade's vacated belt. It makes sense because he can unify, move up, and Jermell can make a few defenses as undisputed, then move up to try to take over 160.

Charlo been wanting to fight GGG prior to GGG fighting Derv. WBC ordered GGG to fight Charlo in 2018 to become Canelos mandatory after GGG lost. GGG declined and instead went on to fight Derv for the IBF title after they stripped Canelo.

In other words "Benavidez doesn't have a belt so its not worth me fighting him because there's a high probability he'll knock me out".

GGG ran from Mall as well, WBC ordered GGG vs Charlo in late 2018 for the interim title after GGG lost to Canelo, GGG declined the fight and instead chose to fight for the vacant IBF title against Derv after they stripped Canelo

I agree. That fight should happen. So what does Benavidez' resume has to do with anything if that is the fight that boxing fans want to see?

I can recall that Floyd Mayweather never used or called into a question his opponents' resume as a criteria for not fighting them. He fought the fights that the fans wanted to see.

I cannot name or think of a more deserving or worthy fighter opponent at the 168b lbs limit to challenge Canelo Alvarez other than David Benavidez.

Won a vacant title by split decision against Gavril, and then beat Dirrell. Also been dropped by Gavril who he couldn't KO.but is going to KO Canelo? I'm not even a Canelo fan but Benavidez is being over hyped

Some people act like Canelo Alvarez is this great Mexican warrior who fought all comers. They like to forget that for most of his career, he was Oscar De La Hoya's cash cow, and was carefully protected. Most of Canelo's big name wins were against past it fighters. Many of the others were bums. There were actually only a few fighters that he beat who stood a snowball's chance in hell to beat him: Golovkin, BJS, Lara and Jacobs.
