It's a shame we never knew just how good he was since he would make sure fights were always stack for himself.

He's so good that there should be no question marks... But there are just too many imo.
Mayweather always gave his opponents optimal time to prepare, unlike Canelo Alvarez.

Fighting Floyd Mayweather was pretty much the best thing that could happen to a fighter.

I have no idea what you mean by, having things stacked in his favor. Opponents almost all of the time out weighed him on fight night, and they were doing bigger business than ever.

Maidana after he faced Mayweather retired, and lived like a King.

      Outrageously good

Will never see anyone like him again

He’s not unbeatable though, especially at 147 and above he’d have a hard time with the ATG greats in those weight classes.

At 135 he was exceptional. His ring IQ is probably as good as anyone in boxing history

It's very possible we'll never see a fighter as skilled as Floyd again.

Its really hard to know how good Floyd was. He never wanted to be underdog so people thought he'd lose, and then he'd prove you wrong by winning. Leaving you apologising and thinking your better than we thought you was.
I mean if he fought GGG, and people predicted he'd lose and Floyd upset odds. We'd be left thinking I'll tip my hat off wasn't expecting that, I'll think twice before writing your chances off next time.! So it's hard to give too much credit no matter how skilled Floyd was.

I think people forget how good Floyd was from 130 to 140. 147 wasn't his best weight. It wasn't even his SECOND best weight.

ATG. not a fan of his but one thing i will say is i rarely saw him fighting a complete scrub. sometimes there were better opponents available but i never saw him fighting likes of rocky fielding, yildirim etc

Somewhere around 40-50 all time. His resume just isn’t there. Basically no prime undefeated fighters on there, just a bunch of big names when they were well past their primes.

Would have loved to see what he would have done with Lara when he held the WBA and WBC 154 belts for 2 years and ended up defending them against Maidana (yeah, proven 154 right there). Outside of Judah FMW stayed away from guys with equal or greater reach (Lara listed at 74-75inch with power punch totals in his prime equal to FMW). It's a crazy match-up bc it would have pulled FMW out of the shell and forced him to deal with a southpaw who was equally good at distance control.

Unfortunately, Ronnie Shields said when he went to Haymon about the fight, Haymon, said it ain't going to happen.

For some reason, I think parts of it would have played out like Lara vs Trout.

Very dangerous match-up for FMW but once he hit 147 it was selective resume building.

This thread isn't about Canelo last time I checked?

I'm just being objective. Smaller boxers had to come up to him, he waited till boxers got old, he ducked Margarito etc.

He did what he had to do, I don't blame him, but the man was a supreme boxer. Just wish he left no question marks, but that's not boxing anymore.

                      - - Lost his mojo beating up women because he never beat up his opposition. Needed his handpicked judges and refs with short notice TBA fights.

Like he told Tony Weeks after he let Maidana beat up l'l floydy, "U ain't never gonna ref another of my fights."

And remember, Maidana was the loser in l'l floydy fan poll where his fans picked Khan.

Never beat up a big guy like Fielding either. Ducked big guys Marg and Paul Williams who had a fight signed with Canelo before his tragic Motorcycle accident left him crippled for life.

What grade was U in then?
