Did Floyd cherry-pick, or was he just so good that he made his opponents look bad? Or both?
How good was Floyd?

A bit of both. I'm sure people will come up with opponents he should've faced and/or guys he beat "but waited for them to get old."
Thing is, there was always an excuse. Either he waited too long or in Canelo's case apparently didn't wait long enough. It's all nonsense to me. Just look at the list of names on his record and then look up the nature in which he beat them. I'm a huge Pac fan but always knew Floyd's style would be very difficult for him to get over regardless of what stage of his career the fight happens. Floyd practically shuts him out and it's "if this happened 5 years ago...."
Yeah, maybe a more entertaining fight but the same winner. The only complaints I think genuinely hold substance is the catchweight **** but as we know and have seen, Floyd's not the only one guilty of that and unfortunately it's a part of the sport. If it means making a fight happen, in some cases it's ok I guess but when it's to gain an "unfair" advantage over an opponent then it doesn't sit right with me.
Having said all that, Floyd's one of them once in a lifetime talents of the sport, the best of his era and a true atg.Comment

One of the best technicians ever. Not the best ever like he claims but he’s definitely in that top 10 maybe even top 5 conversation.Comment

He was really good. He also did a great job of getting big names to fight him when they were not at their best, or their best weight. He also never fought outside of the security blanket known as Las Vegas during a large part of his career.
For me he was a guy who the system used, and he used the system right back, to make a ton of money. Obviously they aren't going to pick a scrub to perform that role. As a boxer he was extremely talented, especially his reflexes and fight IQ.
But for a large part of his career he never took real risks, and the best/in form fighter on his resume is maybe Corrales. Every big name on his resume has probably 2, not just 1, 'yeah but' comments about it. Usually about weight class/clause and/or their age/form going into the fight.Comment

Floyd beat Manny clearly, but it was like 8-4. Not a shutout lolA bit of both. I'm sure people will come up with opponents he should've faced and/or guys he beat "but waited for them to get old."
