Mayweather cherry picked his way to idolatry by many a halfwit. He was a good defensive fighter, not a top 10 ever fighter. He fought no great fighters other than Pacquiao after waiting 6+ years for the man with a style that ages you faster--to age. Robinson kills him. Duran would kill him as a lightweight or a welterweight. Benitez certainly beats him. He would never get in the ring with Mickey Walker. He would rather fight a Baldomir instead. He would not fight people when they were at their most dangerous. Always waited for them to slip first. His style preserved him because there was no action in it. Other fighters gave of themselves, and so wore out sooner. Then he fought them.

Punks think Mayweather was TBE. To say MW is TBE is to agree with several million halfwitted punks who squall the same thing with minus knowledge of boxing. All his fights looked like exhibitions, not just the recent ones. Was Meadowlark Lemon the best basketball player ever. He gave exhibitions too. I never saw so many idiots in one thread. I would appreciate it if all you Mayweather nut polishers would stay in this section and stay out of the one where I normally post.

The historical context is highly subjective and will never be resolved so I don't really understand the fixation with it - or with "P4P" rankings. It seems to be a generational thing where xxx individual has to be declared "the greatest" in xxx field. It's like arguing over music - pointless.

I might take the rest of the conversation more seriously when a joke organisation like the WBA doesn't get to decide if a boxer is considered an "undisputed" champion.

None of what you said changes anything about what I wrote. The sport is probably less corrupt than it used to be, but is still highly corrupt and the sanctioning bodies are long overdue being replaced.

I'm not denouncing P4P status, I'm saying it's largely irrelevant and a waste of energy spending too much time on. Let's fix the system so that hard working boxers get the recognition they deserve without having to pay money to corrupt sanctioning bodies.

Hoping they will is a bigger waste of time.

P4P isn't irrelevant.
It's the sport's way of giving a fighter his just dues for taking on tougher challenges.
It can also be an added bargaining chip.
