Why did Floyd struggle so bad with Marcos "Bar brawler" Maidana tough-man contest style?

Lol, in retrospect the Floyd boys now tell you Floyd was passed prime. Going into the fight Maidana was “tailor-Made” for Floyd. Ass-hats. In fight II he showed his legs didn’t have the same endurance as in his prime, as did Marcos Madonna show his conditioning wasn’t the same without Ariza. In fight I he didn’t show any signs of aging and was strong as an ox. And the fight was a clear draw.

Fight II was more or less the same scores wise as fight I despite the rigged referee, except the dubious point-deduction made sure you had Floyd winning.

He was well beyond his prime that’s not even a remotely debatable topic.

Maidana is everything Horn isn't allowed to dream about. May took him on 2x
The sport wouldn't sanction a May vs Horn ''fight'', even if it was held in Horn's garage.

Pac fought Bradley 3x, JMM 4x, Erik 3x and Barrera 2x
1 Horn was plenty for Pac (CPGW)
Pac would melt under Maidana's pressure.

Pac and May are attached at the hip.
            Sucks for you gals
Reading posts like yours takes me back a decade. Floyd was the better fighter and one of the greatest of all time. Is it necessary to preface any mild critique of Mayweather with that sentence to stop people like you from getting upset?

Fighters are extending their primes by fighting less frequently. So whilst you're probably correct that he was past his "prime" (which is difficult to objectively define anyway) he may not have been as far past as one assumes.

Styles make fights. Madaina was really tough and roughed Floyd up. I scored their first fight 6-6. Was really close. To Floyd’s credit he gave him an immediate rematch and beat him 7-5 or 8-4.

It’s not consensus here, but that first Madaina fight was the closest to losing Floyd came. Closer than the first Castillo fight.
