Why did Floyd struggle so bad with Marcos "Bar brawler" Maidana tough-man contest style?

I swear a mother****er land one punch on Floyd and yall swear he gave Floyd "trouble". Well not only did Floyd beat Maidana easily, he also whooped his ass in the rematch. I noticed yall don't like to talk about that rematch.

Hot take indeed. But Porter is a mediocre fighter that would be schooled by Floyd. Easily. Yall think Porter is a good fighter because yall overvalue ineffective aggression. In reality Porter is a mid level fighter who smothers his own offense and is terrible at utilizing angles. He's going to beat Floyd? Lol

Ken Norton vs Muhammad Ali II is a interesting fight for many reasons, because I think that fight shows the dramatic change in training culture compared to today's heavyweights. Ali & Norton where boiling down to fight weight, where as Heavyweights pump themselves up to fight weight these days. Ali was very proud and boastful that he was at a light weight, and was slightly annoyed when Norton weighed in lighter.

212 pounds, only 8 pounds lighter than Usyk who? Pumps himself up to 221 pounds.

I said on another thread, that Usyk was not the same size as Muhammad Ali naturally.

After the fight Mayweather complained that his training and dietary changes had affected him negatively or not as he expected. He complained about feeling not as strong.

Technically maybe he was better in the second fight, but in the first fight he was clearly stronger. But those two fights seen his trademark strength decrease.

Mayweather was always a underrated fighter on the inside, because his his physical strength.

Man, I'm going to look for the post fight interview for the second Norton fight now lol. I do remember Ali getting into amazing shape but Ali always operated with a level of vanity in regards to weight being the primary indicator of being in top shape (i.e. Holmes fight where he damn near killed himself before the fight).

Floyd definitely performed better from a technical aspect but if you watched most of his career, the decline was more evident in that fight that any other imo. I remember him falling in the rematch and the look on his face getting up said it all. He knew he was running out of time.

Theres some good videos on youtube of it but i cant find it right now. Basically maidana did a lot of tricks and fought at a higher level that people realize. He did little things like when he got Floyd close to the ropes, he had his legs in a wide stance that blocked floyd from escaping easily which he likes to slide right off hte ropes which if you see someone like Guerrero or even canelo from back then just try to box him at a distance they give floyd complete control of the ring space when he is quicker and has better reach. DLH kind of did this too but his punches werent scoring very much on the ropes but then maidana did some other things like arch his punches a lot that went aroudn floyds guard.

So hes really not a pub level fighter there at all a pub leve guy would get torn up.

What were you saying about opinionated facts again?

PED’s or not, he’s was a 38 year old 18 year pro, CLEARLY well past his best days. To contemplate any difference is outright retarded.

He was clearly many years beyond his prime. It’s not even debatable at all.

His legs were clearly significant slower, hand speed significantly slower, timing slower. Been riddled with injuries for over a decade.

To consider that version of Floyd to be even close to his prime is just totally asinine.

Your username and post show that you're still way too emotionally invested in Floyd Mayweather. Maidana gave him a tough fight and people want to analyse that - it's no more deep than that. If you can't cope with the discussion just ignore the thread.

His reduced mobility was also due to him fighting at higher weight classes also. If you look at the way he moved against Castillo at 135 (for example) where the athleticism in his legs was still incredible, he never moved like that at 147 - not even against Hatton. I'm not dismissing what you're saying completely but there are other factors to consider.
