Why did Floyd struggle so bad with Marcos "Bar brawler" Maidana tough-man contest style?

If you look at the way he moved against Castillo at 135 (for example) where the athleticism in his legs was still incredible, he never moved like that at 147 - not even against Hatton. I'm not dismissing what you're saying completely but there are other factors to consider.
Mayweather only pulls out the running/negative style when he’s serious. The opposite of Canelo who goes for more pressure. This just shows their true strengths.Last edited by SplitSecond; 06-18-2022, 12:37 PM.

Floyd was passed his prime at age 37. That’s a fact, not an opinion.

Still, the 2007 WW version of Floyd and the 2014 WW version of Floyd are obviously night and day.
Of course there’s a plethora of factors as to why, like with every fighter.
