They’re not really trying to force anything. Whyte is saying he deserves 45% on the fact he’s been interim champion for so long, which is actually not true because he lost to Povetkin which means he only become interim champ again in his last fight (the rematch).
It also goes on your earnings for your previous fights sanctioned by the WBC and Whyte declared a £300,000 purse. Fury’s purse was at least 20x that.
So there’s no way Whyte deserves the 45% that he thinks and obviously the WBC don’t think he does, which is why the case is between those two.
Let’s be real, If the shoe was on the other foot and Dillian Whyte was earning 20x what his mandatory was, There is absolutely no chance in hell that Eddie Hearn and Whyte would be happy to give them 45% if it goes to purse bid.
The WBC is simply trying to do what they think is fair. It probably hasn’t helped his case that he tried to take them to court.
This is probably Whyte’s way of getting out of the fight anyway, Like when he turned down a career high payday to fight Joshua again, And turn down final eliminators with Pulev and Ortiz .
Ideally for Whyte he wants to win a world title like Devon Haney by email
