They’re not really trying to force anything. Whyte is saying he deserves 45% on the fact he’s been interim champion for so long, which is actually not true because he lost to Povetkin which means he only become interim champ again in his last fight (the rematch).

It also goes on your earnings for your previous fights sanctioned by the WBC and Whyte declared a £300,000 purse. Fury’s purse was at least 20x that.

So there’s no way Whyte deserves the 45% that he thinks and obviously the WBC don’t think he does, which is why the case is between those two.

Let’s be real, If the shoe was on the other foot and Dillian Whyte was earning 20x what his mandatory was, There is absolutely no chance in hell that Eddie Hearn and Whyte would be happy to give them 45% if it goes to purse bid.

The WBC is simply trying to do what they think is fair. It probably hasn’t helped his case that he tried to take them to court.

This is probably Whyte’s way of getting out of the fight anyway, Like when he turned down a career high payday to fight Joshua again, And turn down final eliminators with Pulev and Ortiz .

Ideally for Whyte he wants to win a world title like Devon Haney by email

I'm sure Whyte isn't trying to get out of the fight. He agreed to fight Fury for diamond belt, remember. He's trying to get the most money he can for it. The legal case might allow him to do that, but it's also going to mean him wait longer than he might have done if he hadn't started it.

It isn't the length of time he's been interim champ, but simply that he is the interim champ, which could mean he's entitled to more money than a regular mandatory challenger. That's what the arbitrator will make a ruling on.

Why can’t he take a voluntary title defense if nothing is guaranteed and has the WBC officially stated Whyte is the mandatory or at least yet ? Also under WBC rules it states the Interim champion cannot be considered a mandatory .

I have been saying exactly this for years.

He turned down a unified title shot, which Ruiz took and won
He turned down an eliminator with Ortiz, who has since gotten 2 title shots
He turned down an eliminator with Pulev, who has since gotten a title shot
Breazeale offered to risk the title shot he already had in his back pocket, Whyte turned it down, Breazeale got his shot

The only eliminator Whyte actually took?

The one where an interim belt was on the line (and then Whyte cheated with PEDs in that fight).

He's been trying to politic his way to a title instead of fighting for it for years.

If Fury does drop the WBC belt, the WBC should order Whyte to fight Wilder for the vacant strap instead of upgrading his fake ass interim belt. It would serve him right, and Whyte would get mutilated in the first round of that fight like Breazeale did. No head movement is a bad way to try to fight Wilder.

It’s not Fury’s fault that Whyte has an ongoing case with the WBC that hasn’t had a hearing yet.

Why should Fury stall because of a case between two other parties?
When issuing a mandatory a champion has to fight the challenger at a certain time it doesn’t state they aren’t allowed to take another fight if the time period or deadline isn’t up . The WBC also states no Interim champion is considered a mandatory .

You claim to be in the legal field, how can you be this dense?

If the WBC and Shyte have a hearing scheduled for March regarding his lawsuit then there is really no point in negotiating with him. Not until all of his mess gets sorted out.

That’s not even what’s being discussed , the topic is Fury defending a title if he doesn’t fight Whyte are you drinking early today ?

The WBC title shot is tied up in this nuisance lawsuit.

So Fury can just avoid this nonsense altogether by doing a non-title fight.
