Pac didn't call out cotto. And cotto, as far as I know, didn't call out pac. Cotto's people said he could make 145 (whether or not Cotto discussed that with his people first, I don't know). That was the very first step that made this fight happen.

In addition, this fight has to with money. Cotto is taking the fight because it's the biggest fight he can get. Pac is taking this fight for the same reason. Who is timothy bradley to Pac? Pac is toooooo big at this point to fight guys like that, like it or not that's the truth.
Freddy Roach wanted the fight at 142. Cotto said no way. 145 is a sacrifice for a big payday but if it's for the title there should be no stipulations. If the man is too big then Pac should stay the hell out of the division. There are plenty of top guys to fight at 140.Lets also not forget that pac did not fight Guzman or Valero at 130. He's doing a little picking and choosing himself. Something Mayweather catches heat for.

When Paul Williams fights at 147, do you know how much he weighs on fight night?

When Margarito fights at 147, do you know how much he weighs on fight night?

When Kermit Cintron fights at 147, do you know how much he weighs on fight night?

When Joshua Clottey fights at 147, do you know how much he weighs on fight night?

In case you dont know, I'll give you the answer: all of these guys weigh in at or above 160 pounds.

Reed, what the hell man. You know perfectly well putting on 13 pounds over night is perfectly normal in boxing. It's rare when boxers DON"T put on 10+ pounds these days. There are VERY FEW exceptions. Pac and Mayweather are two examples of guys that don't rehydrate much. Bernard Hopkins was another. The reason? They STAY IN SHAPE. Again, I have no sympothy for guys that blow up between fights because that's their choice. No one feels bad for Ricky Hatton that he weighs 200 pounds and has to lose 60 pounds. Why? Because it's his choice to drink beer at the pub all night long.

and now he ll be dropping to 145... so whats he going to do put on FIFTEEN pounds of water in 24 hours?

nobody needs your sympathy... your sympathy doesnt make the fighter AT HIS BEST...

every pound Cotto has to dehydrate, makes him less and less of a fighter.

Is 145lbs THAT BAD? NO.... but it IS the point...

You ARE weakning Cotto to some degree... and you cannot argue that..

That's freddie roach though. I'm not freddie roach. Pacquiao is not freddie roach. Only freddie roach is freddie roach.

Of course, pac's trainer, is going to do what he can to get more of an advantage for his fighter, that's what trainers do. They want to do everything they can to make sure their fighter is safe and wins the fight. That's why Roach gets paid the big bucks man.

Listen, I'm not president of the IBF or WBO or whatever the hell vacant belt cotto acquired. If you have problems with this being a title fight, I suggest emailing that particular organization and express you're feelings.

I'm just a poster on boxingscene that expresses my opinions. I said I have no problem with this being a title fight even though it's at 145, just like JCC vs Whitaker or Hopkins vs Oscar etc, if you don't agree with me it's perfectly ok, as I stated numerous times I don't care because this fight is bigger than any single belt.

You honestly think that with 3 months of training/planning Cotto can't drop 2 pounds and be at 100%? I guess you think 99.9% isn't good enough to beat Pac

Do you think its EASY to dehydrate 13 pounds of water?

                  You must think it's easy.
I used to have to cut 8-10 pounds for wrestling weigh ins and rehydrate 80-90% and be ready for a match within an hour. I'm pretty sure he has better means to cut weight than I did. Hell he could probably take 50g of fiber a day for a week before the fight and not have to worry about dehydrating j/k

I really have no problem with a catchweight at 145.

But to people who are like "oh if Cotto agrees to it than that means it's ok" I mean come on. Pac is the big dog, **** goes the way he wants it to go. He can sit there and be like 143 or no fight, and he has the leverage. So if they try and bring Cotto down it IS them trying to bring Cotto down, it's not "a catchweight is agreed upon" blah blah.

That being said, I don't see anything wrong with 145. I just don't see a point. I mean, it's so freaking close, why not just say **** it and fight at 147 for full credit. He'll get full credit from me either way, there just doesn't seem to be much of a point.

And 143 is unreasonable....even Pac fans should be able to acknowledge that.

Think about it. Cotto is a HUGE risk for pacquiao. Pacquiao could take a vacation if he wanted to, wait for Floyd to beat JMM, and then fight floyd in what would probably be the biggest/most money fight of Pac's career. He doesn't need to fight a bigger beast like cotto. He's risking his shot with Floyd.

                      That's called guts my friend.
i think hes being pushed by bob arum.

bob knows that the only way he will retain cotto on his stable is by giving him a pac fight.
