TS, if you want to judge who the better fighter is on technical boxing ability then sure Floyd. But the buck stops there. ATG lists are not made up of the best technical boxers, if it were you would have guys such as PBF, B-HOP, Whitaker, Pepp etc much higher. Furthermore you wan't to judge these two when theyre age 21, why not at age 16 when Pac was a pro, and floyd had 6 losses in the amateurs? Floyd was groomed to fight from the get go. Manny was not. Over the last 10 years which fighter has evolved more? Life ain't about being perfect, it's about improving. Judging them both by the same standards Pac done the following:
1. Won more lineal titles than Mayweather
2. Won more world titles than Mayweather.
3. Became a world champion the same time as floyd, considering floyds retirements he's been a world champion longer.
4. Pac's career has spanned more weight classes.
5. Pac has fought in more weight classes.
6. Pac has won 6 world titles in 6 different weight classes.
7. If Pac beats Cotto, he will have his 3rd fighter of the year award which would be a record.
8. Ring magazine named Pac fighter of the decade for the 2000s.
9. Pac's resume/overall body of work is better than Floyds (refer to any number of previous polls done on here.
10. Pac caters to the fans a lot more than pbf does in that he consistently looks to challenge himself and take the toughest fights.
Now the above are just in the ring, outside the ring:
1. Pac's story is amazing. Something hollywood couldnt even dream of. Can you name a better rags to riches story? As good maybe, but better? No way.
2. Pac was rated in forbes top 100 most influential people in the world.
3. The man has his face on a stamp in the phillipines.
4. The crime rate in Manilla drops to near 0 only during his fights.
5. A civil war seizes fire for 24 hours during his fights.
6. In 6 years since the Barrera fight he has climbe to the top, defied odds & taken over boxing the old fashioned way.
7. He's got a nike commercial with Kobe Bryant coming out next month.
8. He's got former presidents wanting to see him.
9. Future president of his country.
10. A symbol of hope for 100,000,000 people around the globe.
11. He can barely speak english but he's made boxing hot again, something floyd has never and will never do.
If there was an argument about them inside the ring, there isn't anymore when you consider them outside the ring.
Despite all the above, floyd is a better technical boxer. Pac is a better fighter. As Thomas Hauser said, boxing is a skill, fighting is the spirit in which you display that skill. Pac represents the best of boxing. Pac is a higher ATG at this time.
You summed up your problem when you started barking about Pac's losses. Nobody is perfect. That's ignorance at it's best. Human nature will appreciate a man who takes risks and faces the jaws of defeat over a man that stays outside that radius. For these reasons Pac is the greatest fighter on the planet.

To me this question is basic logic and commonsense. but
people are obviously judging Mayweather on a higher scale than Pacquiao.
When they say Pacquiao is greater than Mayweather.
and that is fine, UNTIL they start saying they think Pacquiao is better than Mayweather.
Once they say Pacquiao is better than Mayweather they can not used double or higher standards no more. they have to judge mayweather and pacquiao on the same standards.
and once we used the same standards for Pacquiao and Mayweather.
the argument is not even close for who is the better fighter.
Now we are judging them on the same scale. and nomore curve for pacquiao since some people say he is now overall better than Mayweather.
Manny Pacquiao
he's been knocked out in the first round before
he got outboxed by a washed up Erik Morales
Manny Pacquiao fought Marquez , knocked him down three times and still got a draw.
You have to remember when Manny Pacquiao was getting Knockout
Floyd Mayweather was winning fighter of the year awards and beat fighters like Genaro Hernandez.
You have to remember pacquiao was 21 years old when he got knock out in the 3 round ....
Ask yourself what was Mayweather doing when he was 21 years old?
.I will give you the answer.. He was winning Fighter of the year awards by knocking out fighters like Genaro Hernandez who never lost at 130.
By Knocking out fellow top ranked contenders like Angel Manfredy.
While Pacquiao was getting Knockout by No name opponents.. Mayweather was winning Fighter of the year awards by fighting world class opponents...
Just think about that..?
You have to remember the only reason Pacquiao is ranked poud for pound #1 is because Mayweather retired.
So when place and judge on the same standard...You can not seriously say Pacquiao is better than Mayweather.
Oh yeah Mayweather is undefeated.
Can you say Pacquiao Make it Though Floyd's Resume Undefeated....
Doing it at the same age, and the same circumstances as Floyd did....
I can tell you Mayweather would make it through Pacquiao's entire resume undefeated doing it at at the same age, and the same circumstances as Pacquiao.
Pacquiao at 24 is not beating A Prime, Undisputed, Best Body Puncher in boxing in Jose Luis Castillo
Pacquiao at 23 is not beating a Undefeated, Prime #5 P4P fighter Diego Corrales
Pacquiao at 21 is not beating Genaro Hernandez
Pacquiao at 23 is not beating A Prime #4 ranked in the division Jesus Chavez
Pacquiao was getting knocked out in the 3rd round by a fighter name Medgoen Singsurat when he was 21.. So you cant tell me he would beat a fighter like Genro at 21...
You can only say Pacquiao better than Mayweather when you are applying a double standard on Mayweather. Because if you judge them equally...
there is no way you can say Pacquiao is better than Mayweather.
no way.
Saying all this through Pacquiao is still a great fighter
Floyd had a hand picked career, Pacquiao had to fight whoever was thrown in front of him. He was Koed when he was what, 17 years old?
you would have to be borderline ******ed to think that even counts. Then again, Mayweather sr thinks this matters, look what happened to Ricky.
He lost a close fight to Morales but avenged his loss 2 times, and he's way better now.
End of story. If he koed Cotto and Mosely in 1 round you would still think he loses because of some loss when he was a teenager. Pathetic.
TS, if you want to judge who the better fighter is on technical boxing ability then sure Floyd. But the buck stops there. Great great post.
The Floyd fans will be sitting on their biased asses for a while thinking of a retort to this piece of work.
