To compare them by what they accomplished at a certain age is not fair IMO. You have to take in consideration that Floyd was born into a boxing family, was able to hone his skills in a great amateur program by the time he turned pro. Pac on the other hand became a boxer out of necessity and also that he likes to fight didn't hurt. Basically learning on the job. Floyd is the all around better fighter but his upbringing gives him a leg up. With that said Mayweather is the more polished fighter. I respect both of their skills but I perfer Pac's style over Floyd's
Judge by the Same Standards Who is the BETTER fighter Mayweather or Pacquiao??

No more double standards.
It is what it is...Pacquiao= most improved fighter of this era
Mayweather= Greatest Fighter of this era
Pacquiao Professional Resume = 2 Ko Loses. 1 DRAW.
Sorry folks ...He is not ****ing with Mayweather!
Mayweather has Fought better competetion from the begining of his career to the end of his career. FACTS.
when place and judge on the same standard...You can not seriously say Pacquiao is better than Mayweather.
Mayweather is undefeated.
Can you say Pacquiao Make it Though Floyd's Resume Undefeated....
Doing it at the same age, and the same circumstances as Floyd did....
I can tell you Mayweather would make it through Pacquiao's entire resume undefeated doing it at at the same age, and the same circumstances as Pacquiao.
- Pacquiao at 24 is not beating A Prime, Undisputed, Best Body Puncher in boxing in Jose Luis Castillo
- Pacquiao at 23 is not beating a Undefeated, Prime #5 P4P fighter Diego Corrales
- Pacquiao at 21 is not beating Genaro Hernandez
- Pacquiao at 23 is not beating A Prime #4 ranked in the division Jesus Chavez
Pacquiao was getting knocked out in the 3rd round by a fighter name Medgoen Singsurat when he was 21.. So you cant tell me he would beat a fighter like Genro at 21...
You can only say Pacquiao better than Mayweather when you are applying a double standard on Mayweather. Because if you judge them equally...
there is no way you can say Pacquiao is better than Mayweather.
no way
Judge by the Same Standards Mayweather is the greater and better fighter.
Period.Comment

Consider this scenario. Pacquiao started fighting as a dirt poor fighter who didn't really have any cash to fend for his training, conditioning, and health. He had nothing at age 21. We may even say that he's malnourished . He came from a poor Filipino family.
Now consider Floyd's scenario at age 21. Was he dirt poor? Was he starving and was he fighting just so he can provide food and shelter for his family.
You people tend to forget that an athlete needs proper nutrition, diet and training for them to be able to perform really well. Which PACQUIAO didn't have throughout the earlier points in his career.Comment

By facing the toughest opposition available as often as you can.
By giving the fans their money's worth by providing an entertaining fight.
Your standards of undefeated = better is flawed. Greatness is measured by the amount of adversity one faces and overcomes. Mayweather has never allowed himself to be in that position.Last edited by m00ks; 11-02-2009, 07:51 PM.Comment

Life isnt fair.
But if you stand Mayweather Career side by side with Pacquiao's Career.
It is not even a contest.
Pacquiao career nor resume doesnt **** on floyd..because if it did Pacquiao wouldnt have recently just got on the Pound for Pound list ojust in 2004..when he has been a pro just 1995..
Floyd was Ranked on Ring Magazine's pound-for-pound list for TEN consecutive years. 10 years.
Pacquiao was has only been on there half of that time.
Floyd has spent Three Years Atop of that List: 2005,2006,2007, End Jun/2008 (retire)
1. 2005: http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph..._Ratings:_2005
2. 2006: http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph..._Ratings:_2006
3. 2007: http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph..._Ratings:_2007
Pacquiao has only spent 1 year ontop of that list..
2008:http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph..._Ratings:_2008
be honest with yourself
Imagine if Pacquiao Race produce those kinds of fighters that Floyd had to follow behind.
Do you still think Pacquiao would still be treasured as he is now… or would he just be another great fighter from a race... that has always produce great fighters like Floyd is currently in.
Floyd is a victim of Past Fighters success. Pacquiao Isnt...!
When people want to argue floyd’s greatness who do they compared him with?
They compare him with His predecessors
SRR,SRL, ALI, HEARNS, and so on…
Pacquiao is never judge and compared to fighters like Ali, Hearns, SRL, Jones, Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Henry Armstrong, Marvin Hagler, Pernell Whitaker etc when discussing his personal greatness...
Pacquiao gets judge on his own merit because he is the first of his race
to do what he has done. and That right there is the MAJORITY of the reason why people THIS HIS story is so appealing.
Eminem once said that if he was black he wouldnt have sold half the records
he has sold....
Why do you think he said that?
He said it, because if he was black he would have been just another rapper
among a crowd of already great rappers.
Now let's add that logic and reasoning to Pacquiao.
Imagine if Pacquiao came from the same Boxing Lineage as Floyd Mayweather..do you think Manny would have the status he has today.
I will give you my answer:
NO.
Manny Pacquiao is all the Pinnoy have. and that is to his advantage.
The same can not be said of Floyd Mayweather because he comes from a race that produces some many greats that he is just one of the many great champions that are black. and that is to his determent.
So sorry if i dont care if Pac was poor, because you know what.
So was Floyd. Hard work got both of them to where they are today.
but the difference is, one is undefeated and face better overall competetion.
the other isnt and hasnt.Comment

1. At the same age they were in separate weight classes.
2. The circumstances couldn't ever be the same (refer to my previous post)
I say just let them fight to see who's better.Comment
