Dave, boxing is a business. What makes sense to you doesn't necessarily make sense to the promoters or the fighters. They all want millions of bucks.

No offense dude, but people need to stop this preachy, moralistic BS. Look at us; we're arguing over 1lb of Miguel Cotto's body fat on a Saturday night. WTF has my life come to. I should be out shagging tarts and drinking beer and throwing up and getting arrested.

the fight should be at 140. Pacquiao should demand Cotto to slim down he's got too fat

Pacquiao vs. Cotto: Manny is fighting for money and not for legacy

I want to see every Pacquiao's fight but Freddie's demand of 143lbs against Miguel Cotto is unfair and unacceptable for the latter. To all Pinoys who are casual boxing fans and not following the whole boxing league but Pacquiao, a fight against Cotto at 143lbs is in big favor for Pacman and a tremendous disadvantage for Cotto. And I'm not going to buy Freddie's idea. I am a a fan of both fighters and Manny's camp here is acting really weird.

Freddie knows that a weight-drained Cotto at 143lbs has a little-to-no chance against Manny. A lot of boxing fans wanted to see this fight but not at 143lbs. It should be at 147lbs where Cotto's belt is at stake and a possible 7th weight division championship belt for Manny. What will he get in beating Cotto at 143lbs? Nothing but money. It is a "high risk - low-reward" for Cotto. And for Cotto, beating Pacquiao at 143lbs has no meaning as well.

This is the reason why boxing is losing its credibility. The real essence of Sport is not there anymore. A fight between them at 143lbs is nothing but stealing people's money. And for this, I don't think Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighter of all time. Beating a weight-drained opponent cannot make you the greatest boxer of all time.

To Freddie and Manny, it's 140 and 147 or no fight... No Catchweight please. I will the first to criticize Pacquiao in Boxingscene if this fight happens and even if he wins. Pacquiao should fight at 140lbs or 147lbs, or do not fight at all.

roach will get overruled on this. 144/45 is fine.

Catchweight gives Pacquiao camp false sense of security just like every poster who complains about catchweights has a false sense of insecurity.

Almost every fighter weighing in is weight drained. Isnt that the freaking point?

How many times was corrales weight drained at 130 & 135?

            Hugo Cazares at 108?

            Paul Williams at 147?

            Pacquiao at 130?

            Castillo at 135?

            Abraham at 160?

Those are just off the top of my head.

            Making weight = weight drained.

Nobody was b*tching about those instances. Thats because weight drained crap was first glorified after the oscar fiasco.

Weight drained aficionados dont know wtf they are talking about. Its a preemptive excuse for a insecure fan base.

At what weight this fight is trivial & will not decide the outcome of this fight.

He'll get no credit if he wins against a weight drained fighter. Whereas if he managed to win against Cotto against 147, he'd achieve immortality, and be legitimately compared with Henry Armstrong. And even if he lost, he'd gain huge respect for his courage and for facing the most meaningful challenges. Even a loss against Cotto at 147 would do far more for his legacy than a win at catchweight would do.
              agreed 100%.
