They need to cann this fight and make Cotto/Mosley 2 happen. Pacquiao should either wait for the winner or Marquez/Floyd
or stay at 140 and fight if he cannot hang with the WW's at their
comfortable fighting weight. It's funny to me how Freddie Roach
is blatantly trying to make this fight a mismatch by draining Cotto?
That's almost hard to believe that Roach considers to do this and
people say that he's the best trainer in the sport of boxing?

The funny thing is, I don't know why Pacquiao feels like he needs to drain Cotto down to a catch weight to beat him. This fight isn't going to have any reward for Pacquiao for that reason on top of the fact that Cotto had another life and death struggle with Clottey. I know you are not the biggest Cotto believer on this forum and neither am I, but who would you pick to win this fight if it was at 147?
Did this come out before or after Cotto said "I can fight at 145"?
Hi Samurai
The order of events was:
1) In January, Pacquiao told Roach he wanted to fight Margarito, and Roach went public about it. As a result of that (and nothing was said at that time about it being at catchweight), a lot of interest was generated in the idea of a fight between Pac and any of the top Welterweights.
2) When Margarito lost to Mosley, Pac's advisers (mostly Salud and Roach) started publicly discussing the possibility of him fighting Cotto or Mosley - or Mayweather, if Mayweather came back from retirement. There were numerous interviews in which they expressed interest in those fights.
3) After that, Arum started saying Pac would probably fight Cotto next. (But he didn't say at that time that Pac had ordered him to make the fight).
4) Then Salud and Roach said they'd be interested in that fight, but only at catchweight.
5) In response to that, Cotto said he'd be interested, but not below 145. He said he thought he'd be weight drained at any less than 145, and that there were plenty of other good fights out there for him if that was unacceptable to Pac.
6) Then Arum said Pac would decide who he would fight next after the Mayweather-Marquez fight had happened. Roach gave the impression in interviews at that time that Pac's preference at that time was Mayweather, whereas Salud pushed publicly for him to fight Cotto because he thought he'd win more easily and the fight would be more exciting.
7) Then Cotto beat Clottey.
8) Then Mayweather got injured.
9) The day after Mayweather got injured, and two days after the Cotto-Clottey fight, Arum announced that Pac had ordered him to make a fight with Cotto.
Will some people here quit bitching about that pac is only fighting weight drained fighters. He's last 3 fights: Diaz =@ 135 Diaz's division hes d champ. Hatton @ 140 Hatton's Division he's d champ & never been beaten in this division, Dela Hoya @ 147 the only fight w/ catchweight by DelaHoya's own terms not Pac's.still nobody thought Pac could win that fight.Hater's will always discredit Pac's what ever he achieves!!! What's Next? maybe he should fight P.Williams at 160 if hes that great?!! anything less than 160 hes a *****!! Right?
