    Yes, way more crass.

Stuff said as part of psychological warfare and fight promotion doesn't equate to smug statements about your role in giving the other guy Parkinsons.

Joe's just giving up any moral high ground he had. If he'd had won the 3rd fight, I'm sure he wouldn't still be so bitter.

Why should Ali apologize? He never should have taken it back in 2001. He should have stayed firm, cuz all he did was tell the truth about Frazier. It's a FACT that Frazier's support came from racists during a time when people like Ali were trying to fight against racism, and Frazier accepted that support gladly. What else would you call a man like that?

I can't put this any better than Hawkins did over in the boxing history forum, so I'll just quote him.

You can clearly see in the interviews that Ali wasn't just hamming it up for the promotion..he actually meant what he said and meant to do harm with his words. In that you see his mean streak and hypocrisy.
If you cannot see that Ali was dead serious in what he said of Frazier, then you just never will.

Listen man, Boxing is the most dangerous sport in the world.
without cheating, a fighter should try to get any advantages they can.

And if you can win the fight before the bell rings you do it.

you do anything you can to get your opponent to focus on everything but boxing... thats how you win the fight. before you ever fight.

And that in itselfs is a skill everybody doesnt have.

And Ali had that skill....and to Ali's credit he always gave his opponent credit after every fight...

that is why People dont hold Ali's words against him.
because it was for promotion and it was for a fight in which his life was potentially on the line.

Even if he was serious, and I'm not convinced he was, it still isn't as horrible as Joe laughing at the state of Ali now.
