Not really. He never called Ali by his name, he always called him Clay.

you do anything you can to get your opponent to focus on everything but boxing... thats how you win the fight. before you ever fight.

And that in itselfs is a skill everybody doesnt have.

And Ali had that skill....and to Ali's credit he always gave his opponent credit after every fight...

that is why People dont hold Ali's words against him.
because it was for promotion and it was for a fight in which his life was potentially on the line.
        Horus,

When Floyd talked about Corrales' family situation, that was WRONG. What Floyd said about gatti was fine.

        Big difference.

Ali's personal comments about Joe were inexcusable.

Frazier basically taking credit for Ali's current state was a bit disturbing.

Any way I have a question. Why did Ali attack Frazier so much? It seemed that Frazier was a supporter of him.

Was it simply to sell the fight?

The whole point of this thread is that Ali didn't say those things for that reason in the first place, he said it because he really felt that way at the time.

He brought something that had nothing to do with boxing into the media.

Bottom line IMO, Ali was wrong for the verbal abuse which crossed the line, and Frazier is wrong for taking credit for how Ali is now.

I think Ali did mean those things he said back then but didn't realize the damage he had done to Joe's life by doing that.

Dude Ali was SO PRO BLACK and saw that Joe was how he was and HATED Joe for being an Uncle Tom....

Ali felt that way and made it personal because of how Joe was......

There is **** talking and hyping up a fight and then there is MAKING things personal.....

Ali was a well known ******* and changed when the cameras came on...

Dude I am not saying that I am glad that Ali is the way he is right now because I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy...

But the way Ali is now is in some way Karma.... He ruined Joe's life to an extent.... Now look at him....

That is why you dont treat people any way.. If you dont like them turn the other cheek....

Im not saying it is all karma but you get what I am saying....
