They did the same **** with Duran when he quit against Leonard. lol These dumb ****s went crazy with the "No Mas" headlines, dumb ****in people acted like Duran quit cause Leonard was hurting him, when it was obviously because Leonard wasn't even fighting. They all sounded like lil kids, "oh my god, he quit, he quit, he didn't want anymoreeee." lol Giiit the **** outta here. Put em toe to toe and Duran easily beats that ass again.

I agree with you to an extent, it wasn't a one-sided fight, but Mel was certainly winning the fight. One point margin for Taylor is being generous to Chavez. Even if Taylor wasn't doing the significant damage, he was landing serious punches and he was fighting his ass off. It wasn't a case of a guy throwing a lot and missing while the other guy does all the landing.
Julio is one of my favorite fighters ever and I'll defend him when he gets **** about his record, but Mel Taylor earned that victory. He was the better man that night and wasn't allowed to continue for whatever reason. It wasn't because Steele was looking out for his health. Steele has let some fighters go in very shaky situations but this time he didn't. It was poor judgment on his part in my opinion, but that happened long ago so whatever.
My favorite fight of all-time regardless.Last edited by oldgringo; 03-31-2009, 06:55 PM.

Of coarse no way another man could ever beat up another man in a boxing match within an inch of his life without using plaster. I mean only thousands of boxers have died over the last century but obviously plaster was being used in those fights as well.

[QUOTE=El Gallo Negro!;4997389]Two seconds when the actual time keeper stopped the fight.
5 seconds going into 4 is when it was actually stopped by the ref.
and you're going to have to watch Mosley Mayorga one more time to see what can happen with 5 seconds left on the clock.
Chavez doesn't punch like Shane Mosley and that's not the point anyway. The fight should not have been stopped whether it was 2 seconds,4, or 5. Anybody who thinks Chavez would have scored a one punch KO in that time frame is reaching.
