some times you can be off balance or some times you don't expect somethin to happen and it makes you react a certain way that doesn't mean it was that hard of a punch

right, and if you can recongnise that, you wouldnt give that much credit to the punch. If the fighter is simply off balance from the shot and not noticably hurt, I wouldnt get worked up about it.
there are many ways to tell when a punch does damage, and you have to use all of them to score the fight.
