  • The myth about Chavez-Taylor needs to end

people act like it was a one sided ass kicking until the 12th round where Chavez got 'lucky'. this is bull****.
Coming into the later rounds, Taylor was bleeding from the mouth, his entire face was swollen, the bones around his eye socket had been broken, he had swallowed a considerable amount of his own blood
Dr. Flip Homansky, who examined Taylor following the fight and immediately sent him to the hospital, summarized his injuries by saying "Meldrick suffered a facial fracture, he was urinating pure blood, his face was grotesquely swollen... this was a kid who was truly beaten up to the face, the body, and the brain
Meldrick was throwing so many punches and so quickly that people seem to have missed the fact that Chavez was landing clean, hard shots to the body and head in those exchanges. This damage really started showing up around round 9, which means this damage had built up during the fight.

I didnt have him winning on the scorecard, but I had him winning rounds 2, 9, 10, 11, and 12. In other words, he was one point behind.

yall need to stop judging a fight based on the number of punches landed/thrown, and learn how to judge correctly. it matters much more how much damage the punches do, more than how many of them land.

and Ill also throw in there that had this been a a 15 round fight(which it would have been two years before) that the only controversial thing about this fight would be the number of low blows Taylor was able to land without getting a serious warning.

I thought the stoppage was wrong, but JCC mos def dished out the nastier punishment between the 2, and did so all nite to set up that big KD. It wasn't a lucky punch.

The Media likes to sensationalize things because of the way Taylor lost.

It's the only fight in which a boxer landed over 450 punches (according to CompuBox) on his opponent and ended up losing. Only Ivan Robinson vs Philip Holiday comes close.

Chavez beat him the first time and did so again in the rematch.

I haven't seen anyone claim it was a "lucky" punch. Any sensible person wouldn't argue this fact.

It's the time of the stoppage. You stop a fight to prevent the fighter from inflicting further damage, period. With only 2 seconds remaining, and with Chavez on the other side of the ring, will the clock still ticking, and Steele to still resume the action, it was a physical impossibility for Chavez to land, let alone throw another punch.

Its safe to say if the fight finished, Taylor would of won by 1 or 2 points on the scorecards. But its also clear as day who actually won the fight. The punishment he took was brutal. I swear i can hear bones breaking in some of the punches chavez was throwing.

Everybody please ignore the mongaloid who just accused JCC of using plaster.

Only a racist biggot ****** would lump all mexican boxers together like that.

This probably has a lot to do with the Legendary Nights episode.

That said, the fight should have gone on. Steele had a brain fart of epic proportions, and Taylor lost a lot because of it. He would probably be in the HOF by now if he won.
