Roach: We'll Fight Mayweather at Catchweight!!

Oscar is a giant, Pac is a midget.. Pac is natural 130 pounder.. DLH fought Forbes at 150 not 154.. They are 3-4 Divisions apart, can't the **** you understand that? Haye will just move up 1 division.. and every fighter moves 1 division at a time.. Pac needs to move up 3 division to fight Oscar.. Is it hard to understand? it's ok if he move like 1-2 divisions. His team also accepted to take the fight at 147...that says something.
Freddie called Oscar shot and explained what he thought before the fight and after the fighter...specifically with the weight issue and why Oscar was flat that night. Take it from him.
Again, can you answer just one question. If Pac fought Oscar at 147, why can't he fight Floyd there?
Also answer my question, if Floyd agrees he won't have a problem fighting at a catchweight of 143 or 140 then why I see no reason why it can't Materialize.. oscar never complained and he made that stipulations so why not for Floyd if he knows he can make the weight?
Also answer my question why does a 44 year old Man needs to move down
5 pounds at 170 fighting a prime Kelly Pavlik?Last edited by Espada; 12-09-2008, 07:17 AM.Comment

Forget, did you answer the question? What the hell is this discussion about again and who exactly is bitching?? Everyone has different goals and they put up with whatever obstacles they have to in order to achieve it. Chris Byrd could have been an extremely dominant light heavyweight but it was his childhood dream to be world heavyweight champion. So what was he supposed to do?? Living with reality and bitching are 2 completely different things. Im certain Chris Byrd complained about fighting much bigger dudes at 1 point or another privately.
So if a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight gets made...it would be Floyd challenging Manny, and not the other way around. So if Mayweather wants the fight to happen....it would more than likely have to be on Pacquiao's terms...which would include weight and venue. Which Floyd would have to live with if he wants the fight to happen. Otherwise Floyd can either stay retired or fight someone else because you've got to believe that the majority of the boxing press now think that Floyd would not get his #1 p4p status automatically even if he were to come back
If Pac last fought at 147, what's the big deal at making the fight at 147?
For Chris: Chris bitched so much he just fought the best HWs of his time and even wanted a crack at Lennox but didn't get it. He bitched so much he made no mention of putting in the contract to make it fair for him that a fighter needs to be at a certain weight. Why? Because it's the one division that counts: The BEST; The HWs. The HW Champion, **** or not, is the MAN. Wlad and Vitali are the best in boxing.
P4P is a made up fantasy to make things fair for spoiled kids.
Fighters under the HW division have to negotiate with their lawyers and make pleas and deals to struggle for an advantage of weight. HWs, they just show up.
OK, a little harsh but you have to understand the pionts and humor in it all.Comment

You have a small sense of reality.Oscar is a giant, Pac is a midget.. Pac is natural 130 pounder.. DLH fought Forbes at 150 not 154.. They are 3-4 Divisions apart, can't the **** you understand that? David Haye moving up one division is like a kid that goes from one kiddy pool to the next and then finally sees the Ocean.
David Haye fought at CW, which was a 200 pound limit.
Vitali weighs around 250 and Wlad, around 245.
In lower weight classes, that's like, 5 divisions.
The point is, why bother having fighters drain themselves to make weight when both fighters show up close to 150 by fight time anyway. And, since both fighters fought their last fight at 147, why make it lower?
That's not fishy to you?Comment

Actually P4P is a classification that specifically made for Ray Robinson. A fighter so good that if he were to magically happen to be at any given weightclass he'd be world champion at that weight class too. But that's not how the world works. Genetics got in the way..which would explain why he never became heavyweight champion of the world.Forget, did you answer the question?

Same rules govern your question about the Floyd-Pac fight. You can make the fight at any weightclass you want. They could sign the fight at heavyweight for all it matters...At the end of the day...Pacquiao will still be smaller than Mayweather. Pacquiao is fully capable of only being 140 on fight night if needed but the size difference between he and his last couple of opponents prompted him to come in bigger to offset that size advantageComment

He is a motivator, he's done an incredible job with Manny. You see Manny getting better and better with each fight, dude looks like he can do this **** til he's 40.Comment

WOW...you would have to know me I guess since you are not getting my posts.Actually P4P is a classification that specifically made for Ray Robinson. I know where and when and who it was started for.
Still: Pac came in to his last fight prior to Oscar at around or at 145 by fight time. If so, that's about 2-4 pounds less than Floyd by his fight time weight for his last fight.
If you make the weight at 147, and just say no fighter can go above 149; what's the problem?
Manny will probably start coming in close to or at 149 for now on anyway when he fights at 140. What was his fight night weight for Oscar?
The bottom line is this: both fighters are close to or at 149 by fight time. Both fighters just fought at 147 for the division. And it's not like we are having Pac fight Margarito, a real Welterweight. He is fighting a former lightweight that over time bulked up to 147 and just doesn't want to bother draining himself to make 140 at this point in his career.
By the way, Oscar was much bigger than Floyd on fight night when they fought. Oscar was a *** at Auschwitz when he fought Pac.
Here's something: There is no telling where a fighter would have been given if he had those gentics to be a HW...why? Because bigger Men can't produce what smaller men can do in the ring.
There have been more SRR in terms of athletic ability in lower weight classes than Ali and Tyson.
The only thing we can say is "possibly" SRR would have been Ali athletic wise for a HW, except, he would have SRR boxing ability and Brain.
But we'll never know.
Here's something else: Nature doesn't care about P4P. Watch the Nature Channel.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 12-09-2008, 07:50 AM.Comment
...depending on where Oscar is at mentally and now physically since this had to take something out of him...so he may be gone. I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar's confidence is totally shot and once Pac charges, he caves. The fight should have been at 154, with Floyd Sr. and I would have given Oscar a solid shot.
