I thought he had the potential/smil to be the next Ray Leonard...I guess I was wrong.

Maybe he should have found a better way to promote himself, but I guess you are right; he saw it as there was already a "Star" on the block: Oscar...so they need a bad guy.

Bad answer. Whitaker was over the hill when he fought Oscar. Sorry to bust your balloon but Quartey and Trinidad were not, and never were, Kostya Tszyu.

I already did. Floyd was on HBO and Tszyu was on Showtime. Hatton was on Showtime and I think Hatton was also the mandatory...that's what Tszyu said in an interview anyway. Tszyu also got the most money for fighting Hatton.

Floyd wasn't worth the risk I guess...so Floyd set out to make it worth it: He fought Gatti, a fellow HBO fighter. This was going to setup a PPV fight with HBO and Showtime Partnering up...that's what was discussed anyway.

Kostya said in an interview, after his loss, that he could get a fight with Floyd anytime he wanted to...but he was unsure if he would return. He said he was positive he could get one. That shows you they were in talks.

Oscar saw opportunity to fight Whitaker, so he took it. That was just before Tszyu lost to Phillips.

You would have to find out when the fights were made first off. Who was the mandatory; was Phillips? So was that the reason why Tszyu fought him and why Oscar and Tszyu were only in talks.

TSZYU LOST TO PHILLIPS; Never fought Phillips again; and never moved up when he could have....THE END.
But,you're the one that said when a fighter moves up, it's "unhealthy" to move back down. Oscar may or may not have had "talks" with Tszyu. But the fact is that Oscar never offered to fight Tszyu and in fact left 140 and NEVER CAME BACK. This happened before Tszyu's loss to Phillips. Your whole argument just blew up in your face.

Quartey and Tito were very good fighters. Tito will go down as one of the best Welters.

Why did Tszyu stay away from the 147 division and why did he lose to Phillips?

"Floyd wasn't worth the risk"?? Rofl.

Benny, you're stretching. Tszyu made his offer to Floyd before Floyd fought Gatti. This was years before Tszyu's Hatton fiasco. This was back when Tszyu was still in his prime. Floyd ignored the offer and signed for the C class Gatti. Fact.

So ****ing what? Like I posted before division jumping "champions" make me want to puke. You wanna be a boxing hero? Hold belts in three weight classes AT THE SAME TIME like Homicide Hank did and THEN you'll impress me and get my respect. Otherwise stay in your division and rule it

He doesn't crack the top-ten ATG at Welterweight. To many TRULY great fighters in his way.

I don't know. Why did Sugar Ray Robinson lose over 10 fights? Beats me. Why did Ali lose to Frazier? Why did Duran lose to ......? You see my point.
