Floyd couldn't get the fight made; he was on HBO and Tszyu was on Showtime. Both parties wanted a reason why to come together. Floyd gave them one: I'm going to be popular after I kicked the **** out of Gatti.

You would be surprised how many people didn't know Floyd until after Gatti. Gatti was more popular and was getting those paydays.

On another note, what is this idea that Oscar had ever planned to fight Tszyu? NEVER. He moved up right after beating Gonzalez - in fact, Tszyu lost to Phillips AFTER Oscar fought Pea. Oscar never fought the best in his division until he reached welter.

Also, Floyd Mayweather being scared of Tszyu is absurd. The ostentatious Floyd is best known for dissing you (see Margarito) if he has no interest in fighting you. I stood right next to him at one of the first press conferences I attended and heard him call Kostya an A-class fighter and one person he'd love to face. Some of you guys need to ask yourself why Tszyu never avenged his loss to Phillips.

Because Vince Phillips flushed his career down the ******* toilet.

You would have to find out when the fights were made first off. Who was the mandatory; was Phillips? So was that the reason why Tszyu fought him and why Oscar and Tszyu were only in talks.
