Tito in his prime was an excellent boxer, sorry. He just got away from that bit by bit, fight by fight as he fell in love with his power. But during the height of his welterweight reign (94-97), he could circle, feint, move, jabbed well...everything.

When someone throws around the term "bum" so freely, it's like them advertising their lack of knowledge of the sport.

Vince Phillips made three successful defenses of the IBF junior welterweight title, including a third round TKO of Micky Ward, the only fighter to stop him.

Well past his prime, he was the first guy to beat Nicky Acevedo and handed Kelson Pinto his second defeat.

I really never saw Tito as an excellent boxer. Just thinking of his balance problems makes me disagree, and every time he met an excellent boxer he got outboxed veeeery thoroughly (Pea was shot to pieces, so that doesnt count right?).

I think we have a different definition of boxer too, I think I consider someone like Castillo or Julio Cesar Chavez excellent boxers, but not Tito. I include more smarts in the definition, and less technique. In that case we can just agree to disagree, but I really never saw Tito as an excellent boxer by any means.

Interesting comparison. I think the difference between the two guys you mentioned and Tito was simply one thing: In-fighting.

I mentioned them, because they are skilled fighters who can adapt what they do to the fighter in front of them, even if they don't fight from the outside.

What I meant is I saw Tito doing some nice stuff, but adapting... hard to find it.
