That may be true, but not many Light heavy weights can go up to Heavy weight and beat him! Its a very slim chance of that happening to keep things fair! We can put up a possible list of who has a good chance at beating a legit Heavyweight and I can promise this you can probably count those fighters on 1 hand.

No doubt Jones was a great fighter, but theres no doubt in my mind that once he got to 175 after he finished off the known smaller 175 pounders, he got scared to face people his size or people bigger then him but at his weight division. He said it was because of McCallen situation but then how come he's still fighting today?

I'll try and look for that tape of where Collins climbed into the ring and tried to get Jones attention to challenge him face to face as Jones hadn't responded to Collins prevoious challenges.

And there was a lot of back and forth talk about facing Michaliski and in the end Julio Gonzalez goes over seas and beats him in a tough close fight.

In Roys fights some times the commentators don't even hide the fact that Roy is picking on a nobody.

I still say it today, Roys power is what made him.

Ward, Dirrell all look like Roy Jones Jr. used to fight but without the power.
That post was so damn ****** I would not know where to start.

I'll just say that Roy was not scared of **** fool. How are ya gona say he was scared of Nunn when he came from 154 to win a heavyweight title from a 220+ lb fighter? Hell he even fought Tarver right after getting KO'd by Johnson , and Tarver had also knocked him silly. There's ways to discredit a fighter, but saying Jones is scared is def. not one of them........move along.

.............I had to put another one down.

Gerald may have been the lineal Ring champ, because he took the WBC the belt and the distinction. No way to be sure unless we consult Ring themselves.
That wipes Jackson from the picture, leaving Hopkins and Jones as #1 and #2 with McClellan being the Ring champ. is that so hard to see? Really man, this is the last time i try and reason with you. If you do NOT want to read proof from links, there is no convincing you.
There is no proof. You just keep plucking quotes from other, slightly more intelligent posters than yourself. You dont even know anything about Jones and you call yourself a nuthugger?

If the two best middleweights fight and one loses, that doesnt mean they get "wiped from the picture". When Jermain Taylor got knocked out by Kelly Pavlik, did he suddenyl get "wiped from the picture" and overtaken by some guy who hadnt even fought a championship fight?

Or did he simply go from being the best to the 2nd best then fighting a rematch. Which incidentally is what Jackson and McClellan did. There were more than 3 fighters ranked above Hopkins at Middleweight. Like Ive said, dudes like Mike McCallum, Sumbu Kalamby and Reggie Johnson were above him.

My initial statement that Hopkins WAS NOT the best Middleweight in the world when Roy fought him still stands even if we believe all your bull****. You're just further proving my point.

I honestly don't understand why people attack Roy's resume at 175. He cleaned it out with the exception of DM who would not fight Roy on reasonable terms and would have been blown out of there anyway. Hill, Harding, Griffin, Harmon, Reggie Johnson, Del Valle - these were the top guys at 175 when Roy was the man and he beat them all.

Say what you want about Roy Jones but the facts are these:

                - he won a world MW title against a guy who, directly after that fight, would go on to dominate the division for a decade
                - he moved up to 168 and beat the man there who in addition was undefeated through over 40 fights and recognised as one of the sport's p4p best
                - he moved up and cleaned out 175 with the exception of a stay at home Euro fighter who wouldn't have stood a chance against him anyway
                - he went up to HW and beat a legitimate world champion there
                - he moved back down to 175 and beat the man there.

I don't give a **** what all you pathetic hating muthu****as say, that is one hell of a fkn career.

Years later, James Toney does the same thing.

What you youngster don't understand is that Roy picked the weakest Champion and he was beating everybody up that when Jirov wanted to fight him, he instead goes and fights Ruiz and Roy got a lot of people asking him why not fight Lewis. Roy himself said Lewis is too big yet he weight as much as Ruiz.

If i find the video of when Collen comfronts Roys, you tell me why Roy looked like a chump flapping his lips but not even looking at Collens in his eyes.

Roy was gifted but he did a lot of cherry picking as someone pointed out.

I was just trying to be fair because that was the last division he was in before going to the HW division....but I understand your point...If you were to do that...You'll probably cant even count that out on a full hand! Maybe 1 or 2 possibly 3.( and 3 is really pushing it)

Thats a pretty big exception isnt it? Its like "cleaning out" the super middleweights without fighting Calzaghe.
