i dont think roy ducked dm, i think it was an over seas situation, where neither fighter wanted to leave his territory... roy does have a win over someone who beat DM... does that mean something? You should know that before Roy hit the scene at LH, DM was already well established as a dominate force at LH. Which is why people wanted Roy to fight him, DM was one of the best at LH. Roy didn't enter the division fighting the top dog at LH.
