    But those PPV's did poorly.

malignaggi did 95k. Judah was low. Shane was solid. And Margarito is clearly a point of contention.

You have to remember, the purses that Cotto is getting NOW, is less than what Floyd was getting EARLY in his career.

PBF was lucky. He was being paid based on ability, and not his commercial draw. He was getting 4 mil to fight guys like Corley and Sharmba on free HBO. Arum did a good job for Floyd with that HBO contract.

It was an enjoyable fight to watch. And it is an enjoyable fight to discuss. The Margarito win has really opened up a lot of options at 147/154 (although Tony is wussing out).

But, COMMERCIALLY, this fight was a disappointment. The arena was 40% empty, and the PPV sales were low.

      Sorry. Just the facts.
Tha Greatest told me it was a great fight. So, the next time these great fighters fight, it will most likely be a great success.

Oh, Ok. And who exactly made 24/7 interesting to watch? What made it a compelling drama?

Sounds to me that there are (at least) two contributions that Floyd made to that event: his status as "best fighter in the world', and his role in heavily hyping the fight in 24/7 and at the pressers.

And that is a VERY fair point.

The first Oscar/Shane fight did under 600K. But because people remembered it positively, the rematch did almost a mil.

            I think Tyson/Holy 2 also did more than 1.

The only question is whether miguel will be a diminished fighter going forward. i hope not, but I expect that he will be diminished. Just historical precedent. I'm having a hard time remembering when someone came back from that type of knockout loss to beat his opponent.

Mayweather couldn't even sell out the MGM Grand pre-DLH

numbers do not lie. before the dlh fight mayweather had never done more than 400k buys. so he is not a draw. he is on the same level as most other fighters and below the top draws dlh tito and roy jones.

                  7,000 vs Sharmba in Portland.

                  5,000 vs Bruseles in Miami

12,000 vs Gatti in AC (gatti would have sold out anyway)

                  6,500 vs Corley in AC

9,000 vs NDou in Grand rapids

So, they basically fought him in the northeast, souteast, midwest, southwest, and northwest. Good planning. They needed to do that with Cotto to try to expand his fanbase.
As a brit I look at those numbers and pity the commitment shown by US fans towards the top level fighters.

They may be solid numbers over there, but I can't grasp how little interest there is. I'd give my left nut to see a PBF/Cotto/Marg whoever fight. Hell I'd pay $60 to see Judah fight live.

You yanks are spoilt rotten with all the fights over there, and you don't seem to realise it.

The Tito fight did very well. But Tito is a charismatic fighter. And if some of you think I'm a Floyd nuthugger, then you didn't want to know me during Tito's prime.

As soon as a trinidad fight was announced, i would buy a plane ticket. I had a death grip on Tito's ballsack. I love that dude.

Shane is not a charismatic guy, and really doesn't know how to sell a fight . Not the way vargas, hopkins, mayorga, or Floyd can sell their fights. Shane has solid name recognition, but his nums are ****ty unless matched with a big name. His fight with Collazo was an ********.
