Point a) yes. Cotto has been in more PPV's. But that alone is not indicative of anything. Sometimes a promoter does a PPV because he can't get a regular TV date. Perfect example: Cotto-Malignaggi was a PPV only because Arum couldn't get a WCB date. That was the same night as Hopkins-Tarver, so TR went ahead and made it an independent PPV. Another example: Margarito fought ******* Gomez on a PPV. It has 30K buys. It would have been better for all parties involved to be on free TV. It would have garnered Tony more exposure.

Point b) Fact. Floyd had a mult-fight contract with HBO that was paying him multi-millions to fight on KO Nation, BAD, and WCB. So, even before he was on PPV's, he was making PPV type money. For example, he made about as much for Bruseles as he did for Gatti.

Only in Miguel's last two fights has he made the type of money that FMJ was getting with regularity. Feel free to look it up.

Some of you are trying to portray this fight as a success. IT. WAS. NOT.

It was an enjoyable fight to watch. And it is an enjoyable fight to discuss. The Margarito win has really opened up a lot of options at 147/154 (although Tony is wussing out).

But, COMMERCIALLY, this fight was a disappointment. The arena was 40% empty, and the PPV sales were low.

It was a good fight. What do I care if they didn't fill the arena? Would that have made the fight any better than it was?
