The fact that Calzaghe is even talking about Pavlik betrays the fact that he knows he should be fighting him - he's not at peace because he's running.

It is not good enough to just say Joe was just too good for Kessler and therefore excuse his defeat. The bottom line is that Kessler is yet to beat a top guy. His best win is over Anthony Mundine and a semi-admirable loss to Calzaghe cannot mask that fact.Comment

Wow, Kessler is getting recognition losing a wide UD to Calzaghe in his prime. Pavlik style would suit Kessler. Kessler is a unproven fighter and has not beaten one single good fighter NOT ****ING ONE and people claim he is better than Pavlik the undisputed champion of the world. Why doesn’t Kessler move up weight and fight in LHW or MW.Comment

You're missing an obvious point. Regardless of the "split", Calzaghe comfortably beat Hopkins. Secondly, you can hardly criticize a man who has been at the very top of his division for over 10 years, loast only a single time in his life (amateur) over 17 years ago, and, moving up to a new division is still unbeaten.Calzaghe is pretty sly to announce his retirement BEFORE Pavlik beats old man Hopkins.
Pavlik stands a good chance of being the first and only man to stop the 43 year old Hopkins.
Joe only outpointed Bernard - Pavlik will give him a beating.
The fans will then demand Pavlik vs. Calzaghe, but Joe will say, "Hey, I already said Roy Jones was my last fight. You see, that proves I'm not ducking Pavlik."
This is the smartest way for Joe to duck Pavlik.
Pavlik has barely scratched the standard length of time during which a title reign is regarded as being dominant. He's a newcomer, who heard of him 2 years or so ago?? And he has very basic skills.Comment

Calzaghe beat Hopkins comfortably?? Re watch the fight how many people scored it for Hopkins and plus Calzaghe was knocked down and won in a SD, the fight was very close. You're missing an obvious point. And what difference does it make whether he "stops" Hopkins or not. He hasn't done it so far. And if he does, all it means is that he punches harder than Calzaghe, or that he was fortunate to hve his punch meet Hopkins' jaw at the right speed, the right angle the right moment, all of these being mostly [considering how many punches are thrown with evil intent (loads of them) in a fight]. Something like Tarver's closed eye luicky punch against Jones, which even a "Superman" couldn't overcome. You're missing an obvious point. Regardless of the "split", Calzaghe comfortably beat Hopkins. I've watched the fight very carefully, believe me, and since I do NOT like Hopkins, was very careful to lean over backwards to give him every advantage...and STILL, Calzaghe won comfortably. Those who gave it to Hopkins were just wrong....as the decision proved. The KD was an off balance lucky punch which was not repeated for the next 11 1/2 rounds, plenty of time to do so if it was anything but luck.
AND.....it was clear that there was no single moment in the fight where Hopkins had any chance of pinning and beating Calzaghe, and as the rounds went on, it should have been obvious to everyone who even pretended to know something about boxing, that Hopkins was only doing enough to survive and punching less and less and holding more and more etc. a typical Hopkins fight.Comment

Sorry, but your pseudo-[psychology is a bit of a laugh. How can ANYbody know what anyone else is thinking, especially on these pages, regardless of what they write. Once you don't know the true reason for the comments, by Calzaghe or anyone else, you don't even have a 1 in 50 change of guessing right. If you did, you'd be a very rich man.Comment
