I know Calzaghe wants the money with the Jones fight, but cmon. Jones is way, way past prime and not even close to as dangerous an opponent as Pavlik right now.

and even if Kessler is 'better' than Pavlik, fighters with high punch outputs, power and determination can win fights that more talented fighters cannot. I thought people would realise that by now after what happened with Cotto and Margarito.
I agree. I think he should've fought Pavlik first. If he wins, it increases interest in him fighting Jones anyway so he gets more $$$ in the end. Not that I agree with making the decision based upon money in the first place.

Pavlik is only going to get better, and Calzaghe is only going to get worse. I actually cannot think of any other fighter who relies upon speed and stamina that has still been almost as good as ever at the age of 36.

He will decline at some point though, and his hands are only going to get worse as well. I saw an interview with him a week after the Hopkins fight and he mentioned that they were still sore. I really don't think most people realise how bad they are.

Malignaggi will beat Hatton, Calzaghe will beat Jones, Mora will probably beat Forrest and I expect Calderon to get the W later this month.

Feather fisted weakling club is taking over boxing, get used to it.
You really think Malignaggi will beat Hatton? Malignaggi is technically a slicker boxer, but he won't outbox Ricky, he always gets dragged into brawls, and he can't punch. Also Ricky's real travails have come at welter, I think should be able to handle Paulie.

Calzaghe has proven everything he needed to in his long career that spans almost 15 years. If I was a Pavlik fan I wouldn't want this fight to happen because most likely Calzaghe will win and this will effectively stop the Pavlik hype train by derailing it.When and if this fight is made all this nonsense will be settled in the ring and Calzaghe will ***** slap all who doubted him.I better get prepaired for it

No actually I'm content with him retiring, just DON'T expect for anyone to give him the respect you all BEG and plead for. Fighting Jones jr is awesome IMO because I'm a Jones fan, BUT for the Sport of boxing and many other fans that could care less it is just another SAD boxing match. You are incorrect about him not having to PROVE anything. VERY wrong. IN your head you think you see the light of day and that it all makes sense. BUT I tell you now, if Joe retires after JONES he will not be considered a great or HOF'er and He will ONLY be mentioned for DUCKING BIG opponents like the late and great Mayweather. I know you know this... Is it why you defend him nonstop or what?

            • calzaghe will fight pavlik after roy jones. if both him and pavlik win it has the makings of a big payday for both fighters. its common sense. calzaghe at 36 is only just getting the exposure he deserves in america which is where the big fights are most of the time. i think he receives too much hate. he slaps because his hands are ****ed up yet his stamina and speed for a relativily old guy is excellant. he got another year or two of fighting left in him yet.

              • What about how he barely "beat" Bernard Hopkins, who got beat by Roy Jones Jr.???

WESS, I don't care if you respect him or not. It just makes me think you are dumb if you don't.

I'm not sure how it'll play out. Paulie is inconsistent, he had the best performance of his career and the worst performance of his career against the same guy. Hatton is changing trainers so maybe he'll be a bit different.

But my basic feeling is that Malignaggi will be on top form because it's such a big fight. I think Hatton is slower and has worse stamina than previously. He was in the paper last week, looking fat again, so I expect he'll be in worse shape than against Lazcano.

I think that if Malignaggi moves around the ring, throws 2-3 punches, moves again etc. he will tire Hatton out and win on points as Hatton will run out of ideas after the halfway point and run out of energy around the same time. Did you see the first PM-N'Dou fight? In my opinion if he fights like that he'll win.

I remember after the Mayweather fight, someone (Addison I think) posted about how Hatton was lighter on the night for that fight than for the Collazo fight. The theory was that Hatton came into the fight with FM lighter because he expecting to be doing a lot of chasing.

I expect that Hatton will make the same mistake here, but the other way around. He will come in heavy and will be too slow. He'll be stronger than Malignaggi anyway, but if he comes in heavy, expecting it to benefit him, I think he'll be hurting his chances. Obviously this view is based upon the belief that Malignaggi will avoid getting standing toe-to-toe.

If Malignaggi is silly enough to brawl then yes, Hatton will beat him.

It's true if Calzaghe retires nobody will remember him, people are already doubting his legacy now imagine in 10 years, there won't be anything left.

you can't have Kesslers and Lacy's as you're so called best wins, they never amounted to anything other than undefeated records from fighting nobodies.

Even Hopkins win over Trinidad was much better because Trinidad had already proved himself with solid wins at welterweight, Kessler and Lacy did nothing for them to even be considered solid opponents.

that's why if Calzaghe retires nobody aside from Wales will give two ****s about him because he never beat anyone solid, aside from Hopkins who was a 43 year old man, and made him look bad. You're best win can't be a 43 year old, that just looks bad.
