Course it was. When people talk about Joe vs Hopkins, they focus on what Joe didnt do instead of what Hopkins actually did - hold, maul, headbutt, feign injury. That doesnt win you a 12 round fight.

Taylor vs Hopkins - Hopkins was beating down and hurting Taylor in the later rounds. Never happened against Joe

My point is that Taylor is no Calzaghe.........not by quite a long shot.
Yes I absolutely agree, I rectified my computer "jump" immediately, just above your letter, you were just too quick on the draw for me.

kessler has a good skills but pavlik would knock kessler the **** out.

kessler was hurt to the body against calzgahe, pavil would drill him.

I think Kessler would've beaten Calzaghe if he hadn't hurt his hands a couple weeks before the fight and was unable to spar.

Kessler is a bum who avoids punchers. Give Pavlik a lot of credit for facing tough, heavily avoided fighters like Felencio Zuniga and Edison Miranda (at the time). Hopkins beat Calzaghe convincingly and for anyone who thinks Joe beats Kelly, well in the words of Teddy Atlas, "You're lying to yourself!"

Well DDUK, since Bernard was the Undisputed Middleweight Champ and Roy was the Undisputed Lightheavy Weight Champion and "P4P best in the world" my point is valid. Joe was nothing more than a fringe alphabet soup (WBO) champ not making any attempt to come to the US and fight either of the true champions above or below him. Instead he chose to hide on your island fighting bums for 8 years waiting for the champs to get old so that they wouldn't be their best. Then 8 years later, Joes thinks to himself, "I'll fight them cause they at least still have the same name recognition to solidify my legacy before I retire." Sounds both risk adverse and strategic on Team Calzaghe. But I don't blame him cause he would have gotten owned by Roy or Bernard in their prime!

Calzaghe will be relegated to sub-elite status if he retires without taking on Pavlik.

It is without a doubt that Pavlik is the best competition out there for Calzaghe and if Calzaghe has any notions of retiring as a legend then he must go out fighting the top guy.... which is Pavlik.

If he opts to retire after fighting RJJ then he will just be a foregone conclusion. People will praise him for what he has done but he fell short.

Lol this is the typical response from ignorant Yanks or Jones fan boys. All the buzz-phrases are there.

                    "Alpahbet title"
                    "Stay at home"
                    "Fighting bums"
                    "Would've gotten owned in prime"

It was actually Jones who actively started seeking Calzaghe during fight week of the Hopkins fight because Jones has nowhere else to go.

When the shoe was on the other fight and Joe was calling out Jones, Roy didnt wanna know.

Oh but Calzaghe was a nobody right? Roy was too busy fighting taxi drivers and police men to fight the best Super Middleweight.

And Hopkins ducked the fight in 2001 after agreeing to it.
