Pavlik is the only good opponent for Calzaghe

Well first off. Kessler is a stand up boxer. That is his strategy and he will do it for the whole fight. Pavlik uses the jab and right hand to open guys up, so he can get inside and rip the living hell out of them. Pavlik has a killer mentality. kessler has a cautious one.

Pavlik didn't work on the inside much in either Taylor bout, and really kept Miranda at range for the most part. I have only seen Pavlik's killer instinct against Miranda, and against Taylor in the first fight, but only when he had him hurt. Otherwise, he boxed on the outside with great effectiveness. Calzaghe would tear that **** in half.

Kessler looked far from cautious against Librado Andrade, like Pavlik did against Miranda. I think both of those fights are going to be considered oddball fights in their careers when all is said and done.

he's just ignoring pavlik's arsenal, saying all he does is 1-2 is straight up ignorant and he should feel ashamed for saying such an absurdity

Pavlik had to fight Taylor a certain way to negate his speed. To throw hooks and uppercuts at a distance would have left him wide open to Taylor.

For a guy who does not know how to throw them, he certainly does a good job of knocking guys unconscious with them!lOL

The hook and uppercut are shots that you can put great power on if you load up a lot. It is easy to load up a lot and get away with it when your opponent is hurt. He hasn't really shown a good, short, compact left hook when his opponent isn't out on his feet IMO.

True its only 3 years between them but Roy has a lot more mileage taken out of him by being stopped twice and by traversing weight classes drastically , Roy is just worn down way more than Cal is and is a shadow of his former self , I dont like seeing Roy as a win on a resume these days as its a false notch to have but that dont seem to bother JC , a name is a name right !

The thing is that it's really the only guy he would still get any credit for beating. Pavlik and Dawson are too green and while Calzaghe would have more trouble with Dawson he would still probably beat them both (Pavlik would be a semi-easy fight for Calzaghe). The only problem is if he did fight these two instead of Jones and beats them, everyone will say "Jones was a legend and still better than those two guys. They were just two inexperienced for that fight. Jones would of beaten him easily with his speed."

Why fight two guys that are unknown for half the money and a big 0 in terms of name when he could fight the greatest fighter of his era who has a wee bit of momentum going into this and who most people give more of a chance than just about anyone else? He would get a **** load of dough for it and way more respect by beating first Hopkins, who had just beaten Tarver and Wright and then Jones, who of course needs no intro having looked better against Tito than he had in years, not that that would have been overly difficult mind you.

Anyone else is a completely pointless and thankless fight with no respect. Jones is the only fight out there at the moment.

Hey genius, I have said many times that being one-dimensional does not necessarily disqualify you from being a good, or even great fighter. Pacquiao used to be pretty one-dimensional, but still was a great fighter. He is even better now that he knows how to box more effectively from the outside if he needs to.

I just think that the day that someone takes the jab away from Pavlik, he is a dead man in the ring. He won't be able to pile up points on his jab, and he won't be able to set up his right.

Calzaghe would crush this kid, badly. I also think Pavlik, being a middleweight, is too small to hurt Calzaghe, who has been struggling to make 168 recently. Calzaghe is too big, too experienced, and overall, just too good for Kelly Pavlik.

Ali never even had a body attack, Pavlik on the other hand has an outstanding one

Yes, that's quite true. Pavlik knew the only way to beat Miranda was to put him on the back foot for the entire fight and that's exactly what he did. Non stop relentless pressure. I see Pavlik fighting very similar to how he did against Taylor for most of his career. He's a great fighter but would get beat by Calzaghe.
