You limeys keep saying that you won't get into detail just how Joe would do that. How is a guy with a sloppy style like his gonna beat Floyd "easy" as most of you say.

How is a guy who slaps gonna knock a guy out who rolls with the punches thrown at him?

    It doesn't make sense.

Btw, I'm sorry for not being as confident and believing in Joe's superior boxing skills as some of you do.

That 45-0 record isn't fooling me.

Joe does not have superior boxing skills to Mayweather but you are talking about a light heavyweight fighting against a guy who most agree is even a bit too small for welter, but whose skills and speed make him able to fight at the weight.

Here is how Joe would win:

He would walk in a straight line towards Mayweather, straight through anything his opponent threw at him. Floyd's speed would be completely negated because there would be nothing for Joe to avoid on his way in, and to get away Mayweather would literally have to run away to keep any kind of distance between them.

Then Joe would punch Floyd in the head harder than Floyd has ever been punched in a pro fight, seriously disorienting Floyd. Floyd would try to keep his distance but Calzaghe would relentlessly march towards him, landing blows that would actually knock him sideways. This would continue for a while until Floyd finds himself on the ropes with his arms covering his head as Joe rains blow upon blow down on him. The referee would stop the fight.

If the description of the fight I have just given was about Floyd and Cotto, or even De La Hoya, or even a fighter with exactly Joe's skills but just smaller, it would not be an accurate or fair, Floyd is too good to take punishment like that from a fighter near his own size. It is not even a good description of Joe actually fights. The problem is that in this fight skill and technical abilities are irrelevant, Joe Calzaghe is a LHW and Mayweather a natural Junior Welter. Suggesting that Mayweather could win this fight just makes you look bad, not all things are possible in boxing and you really ought to realise this.

Floyd Mayweather is a great boxer but against a LHW or SMW he would be decimated. Weight classes exist for a reason, and it is absurd to pretend that they do not matter.

The Red above is what's wrong with your post and I completely disagree with.

First, Joe's slappy style would never hurt floyd and get him a tko. Floyd has better defense then Hopkins and would avoid all that sloppy pitty patt combinations.

Second, Floyd has fought 5'11 guys before so it's not out of question that he could stay in there and box a 5'11/6' foot tall guy with strength not being a factor.

Third, I agree that weight classes are there for a reason. I personally think Floyd should stay away from Kelly Pavlik because even though he is a middleweight he is much much stronger then Joe Calzaghe.

At the end of the day unlike you I have enough confidence in Floyd abilities and Joe's flaws that stylistically Floyd could beat this guys 117-111-esque. So if people think that Floyd would have no chance in hell in this fight, maybe they need to chem themselfs.

c'mon now floyd is great but there's a reach disadvantage, he's too short to fight at that weight so he'll be slow, and those slaps won't exactly equate to slaps when the person receiving them started his career at super featherweight

If a guy with Pacquiao fighting style moved up to welterweight, then what you're saying would make sense. Pacquiao relies on his strenght and punching power along with his speed to beat guys. He would lost most of his advantages if he were to fight above lightweight.

With Floyd however, strenght isn't a facor. Skills pay the bills. An out of shape James Toney almost defeated a natural heavyweight who gave the best HW Wlad Klitschko all he could handle 2 fights before that. James Toney has the same type of defense Floyd has and is only a 5'9 guy. It didn't matter because he wasn't competing with Peter or Holyfield on strenght.......it was all skills.

Once again Floyd has fought 6' foot tall guys before and he could do it again with Joe. Joe isn't a montster in there anyway. Anybody with great boxing skills has a shot with Joe.

I will agree that "skills pays the bills" Floyd is by far more skilled than joe. I understand the Toney reference but Toney has a chin out of this world.

Joe looked like this guy when he fought Hopkins

I'm not blind, I'm just being realistic.
