Best Featherweight of this Era?

How how can you call a Barrera past his prime in 2003 when he was considerably a top 3 P4P and was coming from a victory against Morales, Hamed, Tapia and kelly and Barrera was very good at the ring.. He then face Pac and got himself demolished in the ring.. Your logic suck because it's only in your dreams and opinions..You call a 28 year old Barrera a past his prime when in fact he dominate his last fights was considered the best in his era.. What an ASS!Old George Foreman won fights to. What is the point? That doesnt have anything to do with the topic. Did I say that old fighters couldnt win fights at all? So you think old George Foreman was as good as young George Foreman? See how that is a dumb question? It's dumb because it has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Same as what you said. Because Diaz got beat by an old fighter doesnt mean **** when it comes to the fighters we are talking about.
MAB and Morales looks slow every round 12 during their fights and Pac can still pressure you until the very end..You forgot that after Pac knocks the **** out on Barrera, Barrera beat Peden, Juarez, Fana and Even Marquez IMO. That's Barrera and Morales will never be able to beat Pac prime vs Prime thanks for the cut and the accidental headbut he get a way with a 2 point decision win.. You call a 29 year old Marquez past this prime? What an ASS are you... No one ever close of Knocking Pac out in 122-130 division.. Pac KO them all... No way Morales and Barrera can KO Pac,Maybe 1%.. Pac has a 90% chance of knocking Marquez, Barrera and Morales out..Last edited by MakeDamnSure; 04-11-2008, 02:59 AM.Comment

Pls excuse me but :
Barrera not being prime in 2003 is a complete BULL****.
He's at the top at the pound for pound list and is viewed as untouchable by many writers.
a boxing site owner even offered a free DVD of the fight if MAB loses. ( I got 1 out of the 5 btw) at MAB official forums. thats how invincible he is at the time.
now 5 yrs later. posters are saying he's not primed? pathetic national pride

another excuse for the 4th succesive post
Its not going to be factual when discussing these 4
.
because if we 'only' base it on what actually happened there's no case whatsoever.
Wins over Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Larios, Ledwaba isnt TOPS?
by Facts : Yes
By Speculation : NoLast edited by miron_lang; 04-11-2008, 05:45 AM.Comment

I think you're overrating the 'names' or the size of them for Pac. Morales and Barrera both have bigger names than Pac. Pac is a massive superstar at the moment and has been lucky in getting Barrera and Morales at the right time with both coming off a hard run and towards the end of their careers. But, to say that he has the bigger names than both, while they have more good names is crazy and generally what everyone mistakenly thinks, due to lack of memory.his record is great with the big names. best record among the 3 against the big names but morales and barrera has more solid wins. aside from barrera (2-0-0) marquez (1-0-1) and morales (2-1-0) his only other solid wins at 122-130 is larios and ledwaba. the lack of other quality wins is understandable considering he fought barrera , morales and marquez 7 times in a space of 4years or so.
manny has more big name wins (granted morales was no longer prime , but still a tough w for anybody ask a bigger 135 lb. david diaz , and 1 of the barrera fights marco was past prime was as well) but few quality wins overall.
morales and barrera has more solid name wins than manny and definitely more than juan.
Barrera and Morales both beat each other (Barrera 1 and 3, Morales 2) and they are both much bigger names than Pac. Tapia and Ayala are massive names as is Zaragoza, Marquez etc. Overall they have more bigger names as well as many more very good names but people have forgotten that at the time these guys were big names.
Junior Jones, Barrera, McCullough, Kelley, Espadas, Chavez, Hernandez, Pacquiao and Zaragoza is twice and three times the resume of Pacquiao with nearly all of those names bigger than everyone apart from Barrera and Morales.
McKinney, Tapia, Hamed, Morales, Juarez, Peden, Kelley and Fana are again twice the resume of Pacs but most people have forgotten how good someone like McKinney was and how big their names were at the time.
Anyway, away from that argument, I think that it is quite obviously a choice between Morales and Barrera. I guess, and this is very iffy that I would probably put Barrera at the top if I had to put anyone there but would also happily put Morales there too. My list would be something like this:
1: Barrera/Morales
2: Morale/Barrera
3: Marquez
4: Pacman
5: Hamed
It is unfortunate that Marquez' management didn't do the proper job that they needed to with such a stunning fighter and unlike someone else I think Marquez best days are well behind him. 5 or 6 years ago he was one of the best counter punching combinations fighters of the day without a doubt. He's still brilliant but his new offensive style and his age have caught up with him, and of course he has a draw and a loss which I still believe are two wins on his resume quite convincingly though nothing can change that obviously.
It's funny but I actually think of Pacquiao today as slightly similar to Hamed was in the past. A great exciting fighter (not that I found him exciting but nonetheless I watched his fights just hoping he would get KO'ed) and got his fame largely off of some wins over faded old fighters. Unlike Hamed though Pacquiao had the balls to come back from a loss.Comment
