    Best Featherweight of this Era?

I've been seeing a lot of Marquez and Pacquiao threads lately and something has been bothering me. It seems Manny's victories over Marco and Erik has affected how great people think Marco and Erik was and at the same time his close , debatable fights have elevated how people think of Juan Manuel Marquez. I think Marquez is a very talented , very good fighter but I just don't think his resume is at the same level as Erik and Marco's or even Manny's. His talent is up there but his resume is not as good as those other 3.
I even heard Max Kellerman on HBO say that Juan Manuel is better than Manny , Erik and Marco and his reasoning was that Erik and Marco was scared of him! I just don't see it. We all can see Juan give Manny headaches in his prime but that's more of a bad style matchup. I just don't see Juan beating a prime Erik or Marco.

I want to see what people think. When I mean Featherweight , I'm talking about their careers at Junior Featherweight (122 lbs.) , Featherweight (126 lbs.) and Super Featherweight (130 lbs.) and I'm including Naseem Hamed in my poll as well because I think he's been forgotten by some because of his loss to Barrera.

Here's my ranking of their resumes at the Featherweight divisions.

    1. Barrera
    2. Pacquiao and Morales (tied)
    4. Hamed
    5. Marquez
    148
    Marco Antonio Barrera
    20.27%
    30
    Naseem Hamed
    6.08%
    9
    Juan Manuel Marquez
    6.76%
    10
    Erik Morales
    24.32%
    36
    Manny Pacquiao
    41.22%
    61
    None of the Above
    1.35%
    2

    The poll is expired.

Featherweights.... Morales Barrera's best fights against each other were at 122. Hell, that's where Pac made his first bones too.
Barrera schooled Hamed, hell Kevin Kelley came pretty close to doing it too, but Hamed was a killer for a while

I don't want when you start or stop an era but I am liking Linares and Luevano
And Chris John and JMM should be on the list.

When I say Featherweights I'm lumping in all the 122-130 pound divisions.

When I mean era the last 10 years or so.

The Marquez on my list is Juan Manuel.

John? No. Not my Top 5 the last 10 years or so.

        Didn't Barrera-Morales 1 , 2 and 3 happen at 122 , 126 and 130?

Barrera did school Hamed but I don't think Naseem was in his prime anymore. Besides one loss to a HOFer is not as bad as a loss to Norwood or John.

Barrera , Morales and Pacquiao are lock HOFers. If Naseem had fought a little bit longer he would've been a borderline HOFer like Juan Manuel is now. Linares and Luevano are solid but as of right now not even close to being borderline HOFers.

JMM closely followed by Barrera then.
By the criteria it's a good list.

Erik Morales. Quite clearly too. I'll explain why later.

You're the exact guy I'm looking for when I started this thread.

Can I ask why you think Juan is better than Marco or Erik? I can understand better than Manny if you think Juan won both fights but over Marco and Erik?

Juan's resume is good but nothing like Marco's or Erik's.

Let me see. He's beaten Peden , Marco , Medina , Sanchez , Gainer and Juarez.

                  Can't compare to Marco's wins over Morales , Hamed , McKinney , Juarez , Sanchez , Ayala , Kelley , Tapia , Peden.

I suspect your explanation wil have something to do with what happened at featherweight before Pac beat MAB, which seems to be an unknown period for most of the people on these boards.

I would say Morales, too, but it's not so clear cut to me.
