yes he beat barrera but that's not a prime barrera. i think juan is in his prime right now. i know he's a little bit older than barrera and morales but people hit their prime at different times. (the wars didn't help marco and erik much)

i think juan manuel is better now than he was 5-6 years ago. the juan manuel that showed up last march would not have lost to norwood or john imo.
So let me ask you this, do you think Norwood ****** (it was a close fight you know) and that John really did beat Marquez?

On Morales, I know he was the ****, but Barrera beat him plain and simple in their first fight.

it's really hard to explain.....i think he should be 1W-1L-1D or 2W-1L vs Barrera honestly....plus his resume overall is great he fought the best in all the weightclasses he was at....if he had beat either naz or JMM i would undoubtly say he was the best cus the only thing barrera has on him is names...

barrera was seriously af ucking machine at 122 IMO....very underrated...i dunno why people appreciate the feather barrera more....he had his biggest wins there, but i thought his ferocity made him a beast at 122....his second loss to jones is debatable IMO....and i dislike barrera a lot but i thought hbo was nuthugging the **** out of jones in that fight.....and i think thats barrera's premier display of boxer-puncher along with his 3rd fight with morales...the problem with him is he lost very close to his prime and i thought he lost twice to morales...or a draw in the first fight and lost the second...and the losses to pacquiao and first loss to jones hurt him...

marquez is kinda hard to judge...imcsonvinced he beat john and pacquiao both times...norwood fight is awful i dont even know what the **** to judge...but if i had to id give it to marquez as welll...and his skill is superior to barrera and morales i think.....but his resume is not as good.....even if you count pacquiao for him....plus the competitiveness that barrera showed in their fight suggest we wouldve seen a pick'em in their primes...(i thought marquez won kinda wide on points btw but i also thought barrera was always one punch or 2 from turning it around and marquez was a little closer to his prime...)

pacquiao is great and more gifted athletically than the other fighters.. but he is just not skilled enough to beat morales or marquez in their primes....he has a stylistical advantage over marco and would almost always beat him IMO...

      id rank em':

      morales
      barrera/marquez
      pacman
      hamed

I agree with this post a hundred percent. For me I have always felt that marquez was more skilled than erik and marco but his resumes does not compare to both of them. So your left with this "what if" scenarios about how jmm career would have faired had he fought those two in their primes. So I would rank them in the same order as you.

I pretty confident jmm would have beaten marco but not so sure about erik. I think erik tenacity could be enough to over come jmm better skill set. but lets not forget that erik had some great skills himself (check out the ayala fight) and I believe was quicker on his feet to create openings against jmm.

But fighters are rank on what they accomplish and not potential.

      thats were jmm falls short.

My big question is, who do you think won the first Barrera-Morales fight?

The resume part, we can argue all day long....I don't think fighters have a ton of control who they fight. That part seems to be the luck skill and power of the promoter to get big fights.

norwood was good but not great. very good record but didn't fight a lot of high quality guys aside from marquez and gainer.

i've only seen parts of the john-marquez fight. never seen the whole thing. but everyone is saying he got robbed in indonesia but none of the judges were indonesian were they? i now one judge was american and the other was japanese. don't know about the 3rd judge maybe he was indonesian. i know it was a close fight and all the marquez fans says he was robbed but that's what they say about the norwood fight too as well as the 1st pacquiao fight (i had manny win that one) and the rematch (i had it as a draw. any score 115-112 or 114-113 either way is fine by me).

skills wise he's up there with marco and erik but there's more to it than skills. zab judah's one of the most talented and skilled fighters but few would argue he was an all time great because of his resume's lack of wins. say what you want but juan's record will have an L against norwood , john and manny.

his record is great with the big names. best record among the 3 against the big names but morales and barrera has more solid wins. aside from barrera (2-0-0) marquez (1-0-1) and morales (2-1-0) his only other solid wins at 122-130 is larios and ledwaba. the lack of other quality wins is understandable considering he fought barrera , morales and marquez 7 times in a space of 4years or so.

manny has more big name wins (granted morales was no longer prime , but still a tough w for anybody ask a bigger 135 lb. david diaz , and 1 of the barrera fights marco was past prime was as well) but few quality wins overall.

morales and barrera has more solid name wins than manny and definitely more than juan.

ppl always think that jmm is the most skillful among these 4, to a point yes. but counterpunching isn't the only skill you need. em and mab has this too, maybe not as perfected by jmm, but w/ more. they have better offense than jmm and relatively good defense too. and boxing is more winnable on scorecards w/ good offense than counterpunching. skills plus resume i'd have it tie as EM/PAC followed closely by MAB then JMM.

i can't believe naseem hamed is not getting more votes. where's all the brits?

wins over johnson , mccullough , kelley , vazquez , medina , soto? not good enough? those were great wins. i know he lost to barrera but he wasn't prime anymore and it was his ONLY lost!
